Suspected sockpuppets

The user is a suspected sockpuppet of User:Sayan Basu, who already has 4 banned sockpuppets. This user has restored the texts which was inserted by Sayan Basu in the article Jalpaiguri. Amartyabag TALK2ME 12:33, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I removed certain information from the article Jalpaiguri (I think he belongs from that place) which apparently looked like factual errors and asked him not to refer Jalpaiguri as a city [3]. Then he, along with his suspected socks includingUser:Peter Barrymore, User:Magi Choda, User:Kate Cruise and User:Janet Winslet have either vandalised the article Cooch Behar (which is my home town and has been mentioned on my userpage) in vindication or have re-added removed information from Jalpaiguri. Adding in some diffs after being directed here by Amartyabag. Sayan Basu has been adding in content to Jalpaiguri regarding malls and speculation regarding economic growth with a particular phrasing:

After Sayan Basu was blocked, a new account Anurag Aryya was created and makes similar edits after going on a blanking spree:

There are two additional accounts that have been tagged as suspected sockpuppets by Materialscientist after going on a blanking spree on Cooch Behar:

  • @Amartyabag: In order to facilitate and expedite your request, please provide diffs to support your case. Please give two or more diffs meeting the following format:
  1. At least one diff is from the sockmaster (or an account already blocked as a confirmed sockpuppet of the sockmaster), showing the behaviour characteristic of the sockmaster.
  2. At least one diff per suspected sockpuppet, showing the suspected sockpuppet emulating the behaviour of the sockmaster given in the first diff.

The account is evidently a vandalism only article. The account has been used for section/article blanking on more than 3 articles. [4]

Sayan Basu and its socks had an inclination to edit Jalpaiguri and Siliguri related articles. See this edit [7] where he asks for removing blocks on Jalpaiguri. The article was blocked on 21 February and the first edit made by this user was on 23 February.

Sayan Basu had a history on vandalising articles related to Siliguri and Cooch Behar and so is this user. Amartyabag TALK2ME 10:48, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The user name is similar to the Sockmaster. The shock is targeting similar type of articles for introducing factual errors. For example, his modus operandi is to change the status of the articles in Jalpaiguri district from Town to city, or village to Town/City while reverting the same for the articles in Cooch Behar district. One of the earlier sock has vandalised the article Tufanganj [8] and this user has again choose the vandal the same article [9]. Amartyabag TALK2ME 13:20, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The user seems like a sock of User:Sayan Basu, whose multiple socks have been banned on similar grounds of inserting factual errors. The article was protected earlier, with admin only edit rights till 10 July 2014. The user name was created on 13 July with edits only on Jalpaiguri related articles. There is another User, User:V jazz which was created on 10 July 2014, which is also editing on Jalpaiguri related article. The user has also created a fictitious article Jalpaiguri Airport, which was earlier deleted.

Like User:Sayan Basu, this user also like adding "city" to the article. See diff [10] and [11]

I have detected another User:Cluebot10, which is uploading image possibly violating copyright (and username policies?) and obvious misrepresnting images with wrong descriptions and file names related to Jalpaiguri. I doubt all these user names are related and sock of Sayan Basu. Amartyabag TALK2ME 12:45, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • The only check I ran was on Anjali mj and the results were  Inconclusive.  Behavioural evidence needs evaluation. Note that I deleted this user's creation of Jalpaiguri Airport as the references included in the article did not support the material at all and in some cases contradicted it. In addition to the creation of a hoax article, the fact that Anjali mj created a fully formed and wikified article (including infobox, images, categories and succession boxes(!)) in their very first edit doesn't bode well as to them being a new account.
  • I did not run a check on V jazz as no specific evidence was presented to connect the account to the master, and I didn't run a check on Cluebot10 as it's already blocked.--Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 17:11, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The master is already blocked by Abusing multiple accounts and the possible sock is repeating the same thing which master did at Jalpaiguri see below:

  • Removing more footnotes template: [12] vs [13]
  • Changes in population: [14] vs [15]
  • Possible sock adding mostly the same information which master tried: [16] vs [17]
  • Using same image as image_skyline: [18] vs [19]

This report probably belongs at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sayan Basu. The account listed here as the master, as all the accounts at the other case, are  Stale.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:03, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
