Rarely, if ever, referred to that way. Googling, the most common topic is Defense Freight Transportation Services which we don't have an article about, and I don't see any use of this abbreviation elsewhere Wikipedia. Could be a typo of DFTD, since they're one off on a QWERTY keyboard, but I don't think it's worth keeping a typo of an abbreviation. Rusalkii (talk) 01:21, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is a very awkwardly phrased redirect that is unlikely to be the way a reader would search for this article. This page title is close to the actual name so if a reader used these words, the article would appear in the search results so I don't think this redirect serves any useful purpose. Liz Read! Talk! 01:44, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really see a problem. I understand it is a strange format in English Wikipedia but it is the direct translation of the Macedonian name. Other languages tend to use such names with quotes. I think the redirect might be useful for Macedonian-speakers who are less used to the English style in which the proper name goes first in the institution's name. I don't think a redirect from main space to a special page is useful for our readers and the page title is so ambiguous that it isn't clear at all that it pertains to the editing process on the project. There is already a link in the left-hand side menu and editors who watch recent changes know where to find this page. Readers who have nothing to do with editing are more likely to think that "New changes" pertains to something going on in the world. I also think we need to be careful with redirects that point outside the main space of the project. Liz Read! Talk! 20:23, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as is per Pppery. The only television series called "The Face" are ones part of the same franchise, so anyone looking for "The Face (TV series)" should be brought directly to the franchise article rather than a disambiguation entry with the same listings. That is how we can best guide our readers, rather than making them go a roundabout way to navigate to what they were searching for from the get go. As per WP:RFD#DELETE, the redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article, and the target article contains virtually no information on the subject. In addition, the target is capricious as there is no strong[er] association: subject has similar credits in other works, including: The Hand of God (film), The Goddess of Fortune, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (film), or Mafia Mamma which could be also potential targets on that basis. A lyric from We Didn't Start the Fire that is not mentioned at the target. Without a mention, and especially from a song tied with world history and events, this term can very well be used for topics relating to China being under martial law, and is not currently helpful as a redirect to a song where this line is not discussed. • Note the "British politician sex" discussion referenced in my comment above is at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2024 March 22#British politician sex. Thryduulf (talk) 00:05, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per Thryduulf. A7V2 (talk) 00:07, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep (or delete, but don't retarget). The specific wording is unlikely to be sought by readers looking for information outside of the context of the song. While the coverage at the song article was removed following a lot of back-and-forth last year, the redirect is still helpful for people trying to locate the origin of the phrase, even if not mentioned directly. --Paul_012 (talk) 03:07, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thinking a bit more about this, there are two groups of readers who'll be looking up such phrases from the lyrics: those coming from the song and wanting to find what real-world event it's referring to, and those coming across references from elsewhere and wondering where they're from. Thryduulf's comment was considering the former, while I was thinking of the latter. Having to choose one over the other is suboptimal, but with the removal from the song article there's no longer a solution that would satisfy both. Considering that Wikipedia isn't supposed to be a lyrics database, I'm leaning more towards delete. --Paul_012 (talk) 03:29, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, and don't retarget per Paul. Having a present tense redirect to Martial law#China will be misleading and surprising. Jay 💬 07:43, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was no consensus. There is disagreement as to whether it is actually appropriate to include a mention of this phrase at the target, but at the time of this close it is still at the target. signed, Rosguill talk 17:36, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment, I've left a comment at the talk page. TL;DR, "Jason Waterfalls", from my point of view, will never be important enough to include on the song page. Generally speaking, true individual lyrics are already rarely important enough to discuss on pages, so much less inaccurate versions. The fact that "some people mishear Jason instead of Chasin" is not noteworthy, else we'd be saying the same thing on any other page any time people get lyrics mixed up and someone posts about it on Twitter. I could be wrong on this next point, but that would make this title the only "Redirect from non-existent lyric" on all of Wikipedia. And for small beans like "maybe the 'ch' sounds like a 'j'", this is not the place I'd think to start that precedent. Utopes (talk / cont) 16:04, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
