Portal:Atlases

Single-navbox automated portal, formerly a mediocre manual portal. Now just a WP:REDUNDANTFORK of Template:Atlas.

PS Thanks to @Robert McClenon for pointing out that Portal:Cartography has been redirected to Portal:Atlases. I still think the broader topic would be a better basis for a portal ... but whether or not a Portal:Cartography exists, Portal:Atlas remains a WP:REDUNDANTFORK of Template:Atlas. Comment - While I am strongly inclined to !vote Delete, I think that a nominating comment by User:BrownHairedGirl is mistaken. We don't have Portal:Cartography. It has been a redirect to Portal:Atlases for ten years. If she means that that is a better topic for a real portal, I agree, but would prefer to keep the discussion on getting rid of existing portals. Comment. The subpages have been deleted so it is hard to assess, but the old curated portal had 52 maps (probably images) and 16 articles. There are a surprising number of notable historical atlases, but cartography is clearly a much wider topic. I'd suggest moving to the cartography title and trying to expand taking the best aspects of the automated/old portal. Neither looks particularly bad in this instance. Delete I remember a bit about the old version. It was like a collection of maps and intended as a way to get to some related Wiki project where they resided.
