- Propose merging Category:Online science education to Category:E-learning and Category:Science education

- The result of the discussion was: rename as nominated. MER-C 19:02, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: This is the sole category on Wikipedia that only uses "Transsexual" rather than "Transsexual and transgender" or simply "transgender". Change to make consistent and broader. - @Bohemian Baltimore: Why not go with just Category:Transgender female adult models per WP:CONCISE? –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 17:47, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Not sure about the alternative rename, so far the default form for people is "transgender and transsexual" in combination. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:32, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Traditions by university or college in the United States to Category:Student culture in the United States
- Propose renaming Category:Traditions by university or college in the Philippines to Category:Student culture in the Philippines
- Propose renaming Category:Traditions by university or college in Canada to Category:Student culture in Canada
- Nominator's rationale: There arent enough traditions for subcategories for individual institutions Rathfelder (talk) 22:22, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Traditions by university or college to Category:Student culture by country
- Nominator's rationale: That is what is in the category, and it matches the parent Category:Student culture Rathfelder (talk) 22:12, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
- Keep Category:Traditions by university or college in the United States and Category:Traditions by university or college, the subcats and articles are about "traditions" so there is no reason to change the category name. Merge Category:Traditions by university or college in the Philippines to Category:Traditions by university or college per WP:SMALLCAT. Selectively merge Category:Traditions by university or college in Canada to Category:Traditions by university or college per WP:SMALLCAT, there is actually just one article that fits. Marcocapelle (talk) 11:56, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
- I support Marcocapelle's suggestions, but split Category:Traditions by university or college in the United States to a new parent Category:Student culture in the United States since not all the current members belong, but that one does have enough articles and subcategories by Uni to be kept; rename the Canada one as nominated, adding one article to Category:Traditions by university or college, otherwise the other content would have to be purged or moved to Student culture; and split Category:Traditions by university or college to a new Category:Student culture by country. There will be other things that can be added to the new categories. – Fayenatic London 12:13, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
- I was thinking that Category:Student culture by country would be be more useful than what we have now. Some of the traditions extent beyond particular institutions. Rathfelder (talk) 09:45, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, but I think there is scope for both to be useful. – Fayenatic London 08:14, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

- @Fayenatic london: which element in my suggestions were you precisely supporting? (Question for clarification.) Marcocapelle (talk) 06:35, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- I'd keep the US one and its parent, as you said, but split them to "student culture". I'd also merge the Philippines one as you said. – Fayenatic London 08:45, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- Rename some articles already have things like "and customes" added into their name. The use of culture in the name seems to me to better capture the scope of what we are trying to cover.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:17, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename. MER-C 19:00, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- One of the participants has stated that they intended to support a renaming to Category:Regulation by country. There is consensus for this rename. MER-C 19:53, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Regulation by regulated region to Category:Regulation by region
- Nominator's rationale: unnecessarily wordy Lmatt (talk) 01:28, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- Delete? The content of the category has little to do with regions. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:32, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- Rename to Category:Regulation by country and move international contents up into Category:Regulation. I'm removing India–United States Civil Nuclear Agreement as a treaty, not a regulation. – Fayenatic London 11:36, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- What about Category:European Union regulations? Lmatt (talk) 21:58, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Consistency with article titles Pbrks (talk) 22:44, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose, this is a set category, it contains multiple championships. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:40, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Marcocapelle: The tournament name is called "Call of Duty Championship". We don't make categories for specific competitive events plural (e.g., we have the category Category:Super Bowl, not Category:Super Bowls). Pbrks (talk) 02:18, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom. This is about one championship (the Call of Duty Championship, proper name), held in multiple years. If there were multiple notable championships (e.g. a European Call of Duty Championship, etc.), then the category would be "Category:Call of Duty championships" (plural and lower-case c). — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 21:14, 16 November 2019 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 19:03, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: This is a POV category. Iran denies that these groups like the Islamic Jihad or whatever groups are their proxies. And these groups consider themselves as a resistance movements against Western colonialism.--SharabSalam (talk) 06:44, 17 November 2019 (UTC) SharabSalam (talk) 06:44, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- Keep - this proposing statement is just a personal opinion claim, which is not a balance of reliable sources. We have a large number of WP:OR sources including reliable news networks, academia and political research institutes naming Hezbollah, PIJ and others as Iranian "proxies" - participating in respective Iran-Saudi Arabia proxy conflict and other violent events in the Middle East [1],[2],[3],[4]. Saying "Iran denies" - is WP:IDONTLIKEIT, especially if there are no sources brought for that Iranian denial.GreyShark (dibra) 06:51, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
Categorizations should generally be uncontroversial
.--SharabSalam (talk) 06:53, 17 November 2019 (UTC)- Greyshark09 You have literally just added the category to the Houthis article which especially says that BOTH Iran and Houthis deny they are proxies.--SharabSalam (talk) 06:56, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- While many reliable sources say that Houthis are Iranian proxies. In this regard, we should follow WP:RS like Iran's proxies Hezbollah and Houthis under Trump's Maximum Pressure/.GreyShark (dibra) 06:57, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- That's the Western POV. The academic POV and what
WP:ORWP:RSs say is that Houthis are not proxies of Iran [5].--SharabSalam (talk) 07:03, 17 November 2019 (UTC)- Do not confuse POV and RS - different things. Any way, the source you brought is just playing with definition of proxy - it says "Although Houthis are not proxies of rival Iran, Tehran is definitely a supporter of the rebels."GreyShark (dibra) 07:29, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- Of course Iran is going to support any group against any country that it is hostile to Iran either by their media or whatever. That is common sense. That doesn't mean that these groups are fighting for Iran. Like for example Hamas is fighting against Israel which most of the middle Eastern people consider it as a European invasion and Hamas consider itself as a resistance movement. Iran is a middle Eastern country and it is also against Israel that doesn't make Hamas a proxy group for Iran. Same thing can apply to the Houthis and the European-backed the Saudi--SharabSalam (talk) 07:36, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hamas is not so much fighting Israel now, it has been mainly fighting the Fatah and Salafist groups for the past several years. Hamas is now a proxy of Turkey and Qatar, but until the Syrian War Hamas had been a proxy of Iran.GreyShark (dibra) 10:40, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- Iran is mainly against the Arab League, not so much against Israel.GreyShark (dibra) 10:41, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thats nonsense, Arab leaders which the Europeans support do not represent Arabs. They are dictators who were not democratically elected. All Arabs and indogeneus people of the middle East are against the European invasion of Palestine and all democratically elected presidents of Arabs are against Israel. Like Kais Saied, Mohamed Morsi etc. The Bolivian first indigenous president is not a friend of the European colony in Palestine. So these people are not proxies to Iran, but they share the same struggle and the same goal, they support each other but that doesnt make them proxies.--SharabSalam (talk) 08:17, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

- Delete, to avoid precedent. If we would start categorizing allies in every conflict, it would become a serious WP:OCAT issue. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:54, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
- Delete per nom and Macroapelle.--TM 14:54, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- (with some regret) delete -- The allegation that they are proxies tends to imply that the alleged proxy does not have a mind of its own and is a mere puppet. That is clearly nonsense. However that does not mean that the groups do not enjoy support (perhaps financial support) from Iran. It may be that there is a genuine category here, but a different name would be needed better to define the relationship. Perhaps Category:Political movements supported by Iran.
