The article was four times deleted under the title Phiroj Shyangden. This version, created under the current title to avoid the salting, is better than any of the previous ones but, in my opinion, still fails to establish that Shyangden himself is notable (the band apparently is). The sources are of low quality, including a wiki, various interviews, passing mentions and somewhat fringe publications. We should delete this page (the title is implausible, with an unnecessary disambiguation and incorrect capitalization) and redirect Phiroj Shyangden to the band article (protected if necessary to keep it a redirect). • Delete. I agree with everything that Huon has said. The four previous versions of the article were quite rightly speedily deleted, but this one is better, and does not, in my opinion, qualify for speedy deletion. However, none of the available sources is substantial coverage in a significant reliable independent source, and the subject does not seem to satisfy the notability guielines. • Hi All, some points that I have mentioned on the article talk page as well-
Additions after it got nominated for deletion on 22/03/2018:
  1. Added section 'See also', and a more detailed 'Discography'.
  2. Added more 'reliable sources' as ciations.
  3. Added two recent audio video interviews (one is a national TV interview).
  4. Moved Shyangden's Nepali wiki article to 'See also'.
  5. Removed 'unecessary capitalizations' as it was pointed out to be one of the criterias for deletion.
  6. Removed redirect Phiroj Shyangden to the band article as it was pointed out to be one of the criterias for deletion - moved the band wiki article to 'See also' as it is relevant.

  • Comment - there seem to be a few misunderstandings regarding my deletion notice. The last few comments proposed a course of action when the article is deleted. The reason for deletion is the lack of notability. In particular, the "unnecessary capitalization" referred to the page title, which makes an implausible search term. We do not need to disambiguate at all (ie there's no need to have the article at any title but "Phiroj Shyangden", but if we needed to add some parenthetical term, it should be "(Nepali musician)" with a lowercase "m" for "musician". Also, redirecting Phiroj Shyangden to the band article is something that should only be done when the article on Shyangden is deleted: People searching for him will then end up at the page that has all relevant information about him. If the article isn't deleted, it should be moved to the title "Phiroj Shyangden" (preferably by the admin closing this discussion). That said, I checked the additional references and do not think they help; interviews, in particular, are not independent sources. Huon (talk) 19:08, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for the feedback. I understand the concern here is about the subject's proof of notability rather than lack of notability (others concerns are a quick fix). Unfortunately reference sources from Nepal media compared to it's western counterpart do not visually look 'as credible' due to sheer lack of highly trained reporters/professionals and means, those that there are sometimes lack in quality I must admit. Nepal is amoungst the poorest countries in the world, perhaps the reason why we do not have a comparatively roboust media. Also, most news articles published are deleted after a few months by the publishers without archiving (perhaps to make server space for new articles).
Having said that, I respect the judgement of the people involved in this deletion process of this article.
Does the fact that Shyangden has an artice on the Nepali Wiki hold any weight?

The article in Nepali seems to be poorly sourced, which doesn't help. However, if you find useful sources in Nepali in addition to English ones you can add them to the English article, you are not obliged to limit yourself to English sources. Note also that per MOS:SEEALSO, only internal links are placed under the "See also" section, external links should be placed under "External links". None of the links in "See also" should be there - they can go into references or external links, or deleted as unnecessary duplication (for example the Nepali Wiki link). • Keep and move to Phiroj Shyangden. I don't know what's written in previously deleted article, but normally pages on members of a notable band are redirected to the band itself per WP:BAND and therefore should not have been deleted. Whether a member of the band should have an article himself would depend on his work outside of the band. It appears that he has produced solo work, and formed a duo with another former member of the band. The coverage of him as a solo artist and as a duo suggests that he qualifies under WP:MUSICBIO #4 (national concert tour), #12 (subject of a nationally broadcast show) and possibly #7 (prominence in the local scene). Note also that per WP:INTERVIEW An independent interviewer represents the "world at large" giving attention to the subject, and as such, interviews as a whole contribute to the basic concept of notability. It is therefore wrong to simply dismiss interviews. Hzh (talk) 23:30, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Added reference to articles published in Nepali newspapers and websites to establish Shyangden's notability and to establish the act 'The Original Duo' (References - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

  • Keep as references in reliable sources have been found that demonstrate notability for solo activities and a new duo that are activities apart from the band so a standalone article is warranted in addition to the band article. Atlantic306 (talk) 16:49, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
