[edit]

What's the bet it's like the last couple of years. Also, snooping through random talk pages and noticed that Mattisse claims John the bookmaker controversy in her FA page. Very strange considering she reviewed the GAN and supported the FAC. Aaroncrick (talk) Review me! 02:40, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That might be a good thing for Australia maybe. Mattisse copyedited the article a lot YellowMonkey (bananabucket) (Invincibles finally at Featured topic candidates) 15:18, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

mostly he uses his well known IP range so there is no need to make a CU request, as the IP range is well known. It's also very wide and used by many people. That's why nobody bothers to do CU and they normally just report the pages to some admins who then lock it. The Military history WikiProject Newsletter : XLV (November 2009)

[edit]
The Military history WikiProject Newsletter Issue XLV (November 2009)
Project news
  • The Academy Content Drive concluded on 31 October. The first place Golden Wiki went to TomStar81 for 13 entries; the Silver Wiki was awarded to YellowMonkey for 11 entries, and Patar knight was presented with the Bronze Wiki for 3 entries. All other entrants were awarded the WikiChevrons or a barnstar for their contributions. Thank you to everyone who fielded an entry! All editors are encouraged to check out the newly expanded Academy.
  • A discussion about the notability of military people has resulted in an update to our in-house style guide. Prompted by some recent "articles for deletion" discussions, members felt that we should provide clearer guidance on the types of person that are most likely to meet Wikipedia's biographical notability criteria. The resulting advice, which you can see here, should be very helpful in both future deletion discussions and in deciding where best to focus article-writing efforts.
  • Our Task Force housekeeping discussion is now coming to a close. In October a number of proposals were made for rationalising our extensive list of Task forces. Although a few areas remain to be decided, project members have approved the changes summarised here. These will be enacted shortly, so if you haven't yet had your say, now's the time!

Crazy... Over at User:Aaroncrick/Ricky Ponting in the 2009–10 Australian cricket season if you put SMH into italics it shows up without italics, despite being in italics without the manual tweaking. Cricinfo appears in italics - something to do with the publisher and work field. I don't understand though - do you know? Aaroncrick (talk) Review me! 07:50, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Work is automatically italicised, so utting italics in manually will invert it to plain. YellowMonkey (bananabucket) (Invincibles finally at Featured topic candidates) 21:29, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Military history WikiProject Newsletter Issue XLVI (December 2009)
From the coordinators
Happy New Year to all! I shall take this opportunity to reflect upon the past year. In 2009 our project grew impressively, adding nearly 100 new featured articles and doubling the total number of featured lists. Overall the total number of articles within our scope surpassed 95,000 in 2009, and if these numbers hold steady we will surpass 100,000 articles in 2010. Thank you all for your outstanding efforts.

These include bringing the Milhist Academy up to full operational status, as well as spicing up and streamlining the task force structure. Also, any help you can offer to clear the current backlog of Military History good article nominations would be appreciated.

GA Review

[edit]

Hi, could you tell me which version of Basketball Association of America you failed? Your original quick fail comment was nov 6, but it was expanded Nov 9 and everything was closed on Nov 10 without anyone seemingly commenting on the expansion. Before I move forward with this, I just want to know which version you were considering, thanks.--Crossmr (talk) 02:33, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

the last time I did it I got complaints from other collateral victims, and he flies all over the place. As for the talk page, just ignore him, there's no need to lock unless he tricks an unacquainted third party into thinking he is an eligible participant YellowMonkey (bananabucket) (Invincibles finally at Featured topic candidates) 21:50, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For straight typing it's ok but for things like tables and patterns it's pretty annoying with the cut and paste, especially when it scrolls about by itself; I havne't worked out how to curb it's enthusiasm yet YellowMonkey (bananabucket) (Invincibles finally at Featured topic candidates) 13:16, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your Noble Action Is requested

[edit]

Dear Respected Administrator . You appear to be managing Carnatic Music and/or and/or Purandara Dasa, and/or Ugaboga articles.

Without discussion the original position of Purandara Dasa photo was replaced with a non-human photo with no RS. Based on information posted already by different editors of Wikipedia following are references.

  1. Dr. Piero Scaruffi (international author on music books) in the article A Summary on Indian Music: 'The founder of Karnataka style is considered to be Purandara Daasa'. : [3]
  2. Prof VSS Rao- 'Shri Puradara Daasa is known as the pra-pithamaha (founder) of modern Carnatic classical music.' [4]
  3. Shri P.N.Krishnamoorthy – Director. [5] The Sangeetha Vidyalaya 'Purandara Dasa (1484 - 1584) can be said to be the principal founder of the Carnatic system as we know it today.'
  4. Kamat Research Database : 'The Father of Carnatic Music Composer Purandaradasa (15/16th Century) was a great literary and musical genius. [6]
  5. Independent group: 'Shri Purandara Daasa is known as the pra-pithamaha (founder) of modern Carnatic classical music.' [7]
  6. In the book 'MS – A Life in Music' by TJS George. New Delhi: HarperCollins, 2005 (4th Impression).-ISBN 81-7223-527-5. '... the development of Carnatic music from the times of Purandara Dasa (1480-1564), considered to be the father of the genre' (see [Music genre])

All wikipedia editors of Carnatic Music have unanimously agreed that Purandara Dasa is Pitamaha ( meaning father in Kannada ) of Carnatic Music. In English to call someone the "father" of something means he created it, not merely enhanced it or popularized it . Therefore Purandara Dasa is called either the creator or inventor or founder of todays Carnatic Music (Aka Karnataka Music). The editor responded to RFC also concluded the same.

PN. I am not Naadapriya but followed above articles since many years. Please change the above three articles to the original status before the current sole owner Ncmvocalist have changed them with out discussions. So far several attempted correct it but they were all tainted with sock puppetry.

Your noble action as an Administrator of highly respected Wikipedia will make Wikipedia still a better place for all of us live, particularly users like me who help children to use wikipedia. FROM A MULTI_USER COMPUTER SYSTEM76.212.15.89 (talk) 05:18, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
