I noticed that you are adding a "Total votes" column and a "Difference" column to presidential vote tables in city articles. I think you should make it more clear that the difference is between R and D votes, ignoring third parties. Or just drop the difference column altogether. Binksternet, I just reverted a bunch of those edits, which I was questioning already, and then I saw that [[User:Adflatuss] was of the same mind. Whaldude, I am wondering if this is your only account--have you had other accounts? Because a few days ago I watched another new editor make a whole bunch of similar edits. An editor based in the Washington DC area was adding presidential vote tables in a partisan manner: Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Hanover Research. That person relied more on IPs and had a different style. Binksternet (talk) 03:31, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Presidential election results tables being systematically added on Wikipedia

With this message I would like to ask that you pause your ongoing effort to populate town and city pages on Wikipedia with a large table of Presidential election results. I'm asking you to pause this work until consensus is reached on whether these tables should be added indiscriminately to so many pages.

In my view these tables should not be added since Wikipedia is not a collection of statistics, as detailed here WP:NOTSTATS. You are adding a table of statistics on a topic (the presidential election) that is not even mentioned in the vast majority of the articles that you are editing. Considering this point, it seem to me that you are adding the table just because you can, not because there is a need for this table of data to be added to the article.

If you wish to address the topic of the presidential election results in these towns an cities I would suggest that you first write a section of prose that discussed the presidential election results over the years in each town, and then link to a related article with your table of Presidential election results for the town or city."

With that said I look forward to your comment on this request, and the comments of others who have expressed concerns with these tables.
