William and Mary

Hallo, in stub-sorting I've just come across William and Mary and your edit.

A few points:

• Any stub tag should go right at the end of the article, after all navboxes etc - see WP:ORDER
• I don't think this article actually is a stub
• Your edit summary was "Stubify", but although it's not listed in WP:GLOSSARY, WP:STUBIFY leads to a paragraph about turning an article into a stub, and that's what I've always understood the term to mean (I might add it now to the Glossary). Your edit summary could have been "tag as stub" or something like that. Or just "stub".

I've always disagreed with putting stub tags at the very bottom, but never had the energy to propose changing the guideline. An article a scant couple of paragraphs long on an important part of English history is certainly a stub in my mind, though it may be that it overlaps with other history articles (and if so should be expanded from them). From a CS background, creating a placeholder (or, to the same effect, replacing something with a placeholder) would be to "stub it out"; I've been using "stubify" to mean "placing a stub tag" for years, and never thought that it was official jargon. template help with {{Infobox disease/sandbox2}}?

Hello, you helped us way back when with {{GNF Protein box}}, and I remember being blown away by your template wizardry. If you have a moment, would you mind lending a hand on {{Infobox disease/sandbox2}}? I'd like to make the "Phenotypes" section a show/hide element. Even better if you could show the top 5 by default, and have the rest of the list viewable on user click. I have a test case using the sandbox template at User:ProteinBoxBot/Phase_3#Examples. I made an attempt to change the table class, but with no luck. Any insights would be welcome! (I should also add that we know that this is a very crude prototype at the moment, both in terms of the code and the display. Right now we are just scoping out the data to be included in an expanded template, but making sure we can do this show/hide thing is important for us if we want to consider adding the "phenotype" data at all.) Infobox valley

Hi there, I seem to remember that you are the infobox wizard. Could I ask you to take a quick look at Val Nure and tell me why I don't get a little red zit on the location map (presumably the result of user error, but I can't see where)? You need to specify the map name without the "location map.svg" part. Otherwise, the location map templates that {{infobox valley}} calls doesn't believe it's really a map and won't accept coordinates (only absolute positioning). I've fixed the article. Embedding for sidebar

see template talk:Sidebar#Embedding, and I think we should consider removing the extra bold tags from around the |title= when |child=yes in {{infobox}}. this will fix the double bolding problem, and I can remove that warning from the documentation. the worst thing that could happen is that some embedded headings become unbolded, which would could be easily fixed by adding the bolding directly to the tranclusion (see this thread). James Rodriguez (footballer)

The only thing I saw that wasn't 'neutral' was how the opening referred to his 'amazing' playmaking skills. Then, all of the praises that was 'questionable' was referenced in a link (or more than just one link) given by his entire 'talents'. They all reflected to how he's been praised by figures and coaches as well as football experts. Now if you believed that there's a specific part that is 'questionable', then please refer it because everything seems to related to how he's been praised respectively by actual figures/experts.

Your help requested at WP:Split

Greetings.

I'm a newbie, and I'm wise enough to say so, so pardon me if I'm doing things the "wrong" way or seem to be out of place. I'm trying to learn all I can and practice techniques in my own userspace before attempting to do things in the "real world" and inadvertently causing a big stir, as newbies are wont to do.  :-)

It seems like you were a major contributor to Template:Split from a couple years ago. So it seems to me like you may be an excellent person to have in the discussion we're having on how to properly split an article, and then properly updating WP:SPLIT to reflect what we've learned. I think I'm not the only one who's a bit confused about how this template is to be used and what the final result should look like.

I'm actually an old computer geek, myself, and pretty good at writing documentation, so I can certainly help there ... but where we're weak is understanding specifically what the template is calling for.

I'll also be inviting contributors of Template:Split to to our discussion, so we can have a full understanding and agreement on this.

Tagging Fly tying for Galleries ??

Chris, I see where you tagged Fly tying for excessive use of galleries. However, I can find no Galleries in the article. Indeed there are numerous images in the article, mostly in tables associated with specific aspects of fly tying. Are you objecting to the number of images, the use of the tables or both? The layout can certainly be improved upon, but I don't think "excessive use of galleries" gets to the issues. --Mike Cline (talk) 13:12, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

The two huge tables toward the end need completely re-thought. I'm not even sure that the content is particularly appropriate, particularly the instructions in the first one. infobox awards

apparently, {{infobox awards}} is being used as a method for gluing together {{multiple image}} templates (see, for example, Ninian Park and Cathays Park). a check of what links to that template indicates that less than half are actually correct uses. perhaps a solution would be to make {{multiple image}} able to render more than one row? Testcases

I thought you might like {{Testcase table}} (see a demonstration at Template:Infobox NCAA team season/testcases). I was always annoyed with creating side-by-side testcases, since you had to copy the input twice. Food desert

Regarding the copyvio you previously removed from Food desert,[1] were you able to confirm that it was not backwards copyvio? As far as I can tell, the content was first added to Wikipedia in December 2010.[2] Unfortunately, the Internet Archive does not appear to have crawled successorganics.com during that time.[3] Based on the page data, I think it wasn't uploaded to successorganics until March 2011.[4] It was also contained within a folder titled "wp-content", which I think is short for "WikiPedia-content", and all of the links were internal to Wikipedia. "wp-content" is a base directory in WordPress. You're entitled to go and politely ask the people who run that website (which certainly doesn't appear to be a content parasite) if that material was innocently lifted from Wikipedia, but the original content dump here raises so many red flags that it's truly difficult for me to believe that an experienced editor would simply undo a rationalised copyvio blanking in advance of discussing it. Thanks for the correction in regards to the "wp-content" directory. However, the date of the directory indicates it was added three months after Wikipedia hosted it. I can also prove it. There are minor differences indicating that the older version on Wikipedia had the original content. For example, the original lead sentence uploaded to Wikipedia was sourced to "Ford", but that reference was removed on the successorganics website when they uploaded it. Most noticeably, the original version did not contain the note "see DataHaven document, below" as that note was added later[5] to refer to an external link on Wikipedia.[6] I'm sorry, but I think the evidence is very clear that this was copied from Wikipedia. Why would this website refer to a link that only appears in an external link section on Wikipedia? Honestly, this appears open and shut. Viriditas (talk) 11:43, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Infobox and refs

As you may have noticed I am struggling with explaining the new census information at Template:Infobox Scottish island. The new data referenced at Template:NRS1C includes this: "In addition to the islands listed in this table, the following islands are included in the NRS statistical geography for inhabited islands but had no usual residents at the time of either the 2001 or 2011 censuses:..." The islands concerned are detailed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Scottish Islands/Populated Islands#Occasionally inhabited islands. The amended wording in the infobox covers this issue but my concern is that a reviewer at GA/FA is going to say that this is all very well, but its not referenced directly in the article and depends on a reference at a different page. I amended the sandbox to include a hard coded reference, which seemed to work except for the automatic "Cite error:" message at the foot of the page, but I was reluctant to include in the main infobox in case it started mangling things. Tabs template question

Hello Chris, I am looking to set up nested tabs, that is when you click on a tab on the the page tabs template, the new page has a second set of tabs right below it that joins into the box created by the page tabs template.

Seeing is better: Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink/Templates

When You click on "Templates" on the main tab, I would like to have a new set of tabs to appear on the page below and have the line connect into the box created to the main Page tabs template. The second row also needs to default to the first page.
