You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:59, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bing

[edit]

Please strike through you comments

[edit]

Please strike through your comments at ANI and Talk:Bing (search engine)#Move? - Anthony Appleyard simply moved (renamed) a disambiguation page, and calling him a liar because he didn't remember an entry on the page is a gross personal attack. Dougweller (talk) 10:14, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I missed this [1] where he undid a redirect in June 2009 that someone had made. But he still can't be expected to remember reverting someone on something trivial, and he did not change Bing to this disambiguation page, his revert there simply restored the status quo. You are calling him a liar because he forgot a minor revert he did 14 months ago? Dougweller (talk) 10:22, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I won't strike out calling anthony appleyard a liar because they are still readable; I will write a personal apology on his talk page if he wants me to.--intraining Jack In 11:13, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's very good. But it would help both of you if you say this at ANI and the article talk page. Dougweller (talk) 11:26, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No worries I will.--intraining Jack In 11:29, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you are reminded not to attack other editors, as you did on Michael Jackson. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 14:07, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

April 2012

This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on other people again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people.--John (talk) 13:20, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

re your message [2]. I care about the DC article for the same reason I care about any other article: because I care about Wikipedia and because I care about the impact the article might have on living people and because I care that Wikipedia presents an encyclopedic article and does not become a mouthpiece for fringe ideas or self serving promotion. Don't you? -- The Red Pen of Doom 14:21, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it's fuck heads like you who fuck wikipedia up for everybody; it's supposed to be a encyclopedia that anyone can edit. No one cares enough to put up with your bullshit.
" encyclopedia that anyone can edit" is a little bit of a shorthand. it's "the enclyclopedia that anyone can edit, if they are willing to follow the essential guiding principles." -- The Red Pen of Doom 14:37, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked temporarily from editing for personal attacks. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:50, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
how long is the blockintraining Jack In 13:53, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Two weeks. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:17, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
what do you think I should do during my ban?
you need not necessarily serve the full time of the block. if you let the community know that you understand what led to the block and show that you will not continue in the manner that led to the block, it can be lifted earlier. see Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks.
or you can spend the time offline doing research and working on content to add to the site when the block is lifted.
or you could go play some football or read a book or spend time with your family. -- The Red Pen of Doom 00:32, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How about I research your mom for 2 weeks, maybe I can learn something from her.
obviously you are not going to make any effort to take option number 1 so you can start looking for something to do for an additional month as your block gets extended if another admin decides to take a look here. -- The Red Pen of Doom 01:30, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey man it's my talk page I can say what I like, nobody invited you to comment here. Why are you posting here anyway?
It's your talkpage but any more incivility and you'll be unable to say anything here. The Rambling Man (talk) 06:37, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I can ask you about The List of Documentary films I have been working on since 2008. How would I know if there is anyone out there who would like to focus on adding more films with me. The layout is good now but it is way behind the films by category lists because hardly anyone works on it. It would be good if it could get to featured list one day.intraining Jack In 05:51, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well you could try the Films wikiproject for volunteers, then perhaps add it to the peer review queue to see what fresh eyes make of it. Then, all being well, you could take it to WP:FLC. Always worth looking at my checklist too... The Rambling Man (talk) 07:34, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
that check list is great, In my case I really do believe the issue is content related. The formatting and everything is easy one you know how you want it to look because all you have to do then is maintain it. I done it with images at one stage before moving on to the tables http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_documentary_films&oldid=236562993 and that took ages since then I CBF'd spending hours on end adding stuff.intraining Jack In 13:41, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

a website where 1 single person can over rule an entire MMA community is a fucking joke. Wikipedia has gone downwards recently.--intraining Jack In 14:37, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

[edit]

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB.
