Thanks for the review, Leftorium. And thanks for the birthday wishes! All these reviews of my GANs coming today from the backlog drive are a good birthday gift indeed! lol — Hunter Kahn 14:49, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello Theleftorium. Can you take a look at this draft article on White Shadows' userpage and tell us what you think. He's been letting me and some other ips work on it. I seem to be the main contributor however and I'm starting to enjoy this editing stuff. He suggested that I ask you for your treasured opinion, if, and when, you have time. It would be much appreciated. Thank you. 99.69.190.50 (talk) 17:42, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Your opinion appreciated regarding episode summaries at copyright violations talk page
Hello there. I have been disagreeing with another editor about WP:COPYVIO at 90210 (season 2). He claims he is putting the summaries in his own words, but I disagree. My full analysis of the issues are here on his talk page, but here are a few examples. I have bolded where his words match CWTV.com. (Note: these are the less obvious ones! Sad but true.)
His words: Navid and Dixon devise a plan to stop Jasper seeing Annie, but never expected the outcome of a school drug search.
CWTV.com: Navid (Michael Steger) and Dixon (Tristan Wilds) devise a plan to eliminate Jasper (Zach Sherman) from Annie's (Shenae Grimes) life, but never anticipate the outcome of a school drug search.
His words: Naomi returns from her vacation in St. Bart’s excited to spend time with Liam.
CWTV.com: Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) returns from her vacation in St. Bart's excited to spend time with Liam (Matt Lanter), which leads to the two getting up close and personal in his newly built boat.
His words: Annie and Jasper profess to take their relationship to the next level.
CWTV.com: Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Jasper profess their love for each other and decide to take their relationship to the next level.
His comment to me was that these were the only words which could be used ("You do bring up some good points. However, it's hard to not write things using the same words as they might do as they're the only words that can be used in that sentence, my descriptions are much shorter.") Since then, he has posed this very simple question on the copyright violations talk page:
- Is copying edit summarys from a TV guide or Their website considered a violation?
Since I respect your opinions (and the “cause”!) I would appreciate it if you would be willing to add an opinion/response to his question. Of course, I understand if you would rather stay out of it. Thanks. --Logical Fuzz (talk) 15:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I can definitely see the problem. Give me some time and I'll look over the article. Theleftorium 16:02, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've blanked the entire section and listed the article at WP:CP. Hopefully the user will listen and rewrite the content in his own words. Theleftorium 16:24, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your help. It is greatly appreciated. After I have reverted the addition of copyrighted summaries 6 times within 8 days, it's nice to have someone else agree with me, and even go one step further to blank the page and add the copyright tag. Sorry to drag you into it, but thank you again! --Logical Fuzz (talk) 16:38, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

90210 - season 2.
Hello, why have you removed all content from 90210 episodes page? Only 3 copyright infringement summaries are left, the rest I added in my own words from what I remember the best bits of the episodes. I will do the other 3 now if you permit me the revert the edit? Jayy008 (talk) 16:34, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I have not removed the content. It is located under the template that was placed on the article. Feel free to rewrite the summaries; however, do not remove the template until someone else has taken a look at the content. Theleftorium 16:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Unambiguously promotional (Two Seasons (retailer))
I guess to some degree that is in the eye of the beholder. To me an article that lists all the other brands of the parent company, all the locations of its 22 sites, and little other information except its official website is unambiguously promotional. If you remove the promotional info, there would be little else. Thanks, Xtzou (Talk) 20:46, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
- The lead and the history sections aren't promotional if you ask me. Feel free to remove the "Store Locations" section and the external link. I'm not so sure about the notability, though... Theleftorium 20:52, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

OTRS
Hi. We are in sore need of additional volunteers at WP:OTRS in the permissions queues. There are about 1000 permissions letters outstanding, for Commons and English Wikipedia. I e-mailed User:Bastique, and he tells me that being an admin is not a hard-wired requirement. (And you know that I am only waiting for a mutually agreeable time to throw you to the lions anyway.) Though I am loathe to do anything that might cost us your time (selfish as I am :D), I did think that you would be ideal. If you think you might be willing to give it some time, how about taking a look at meta:OTRS/volunteering? (And if you've got too much on your plate, feel free not to. :D) If you do raise your hand, please let me know, as I'd like to drop by and comment on your "application". --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:42, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- Sure, I wouldn't mind helping out there (although I'd probably stick to the less complicated situations), especially now when VernoWhitney has taken over WP:SCV. ;) They seem to interested in people who can speak languages other than English, which I do, so that might he helpful. I'll take a closer look tomorrow. Going to bed now. :) Theleftorium 20:54, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- Good night! And I'm very glad for Verno, since it's given you more time at CCI. Which is giving me a bit more time at OTRS (and to finally take that article through GA). (And, by the way, pursuant to User talk:Moonriddengirl/Archive 20, I've been wondering all day if I should wish you many happy returns, but your userbox said no (This user is 18 years, 11 months, and 19 days old.) I finally figured it out. I evidently registered my account a good bit before I used it. :D) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:59, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Re: review notice
Yes, generally if an article is tagged for a review and has not been started in a week's time, it's usually appropriate to review. It was usually not enforced since there were so few reviews pre-drive anyway. I'm trying to enforce it where I can so things are reviewed in a timely manner. I was leaving it around since I was unsure about Frontenac County Court House. The CSB hit was for a quotation. It's properly cited, but it's quoting the entire plaque. I'm inclined to say that it should be removed since it's well beyond fair use but I was hoping for a second opinion, although I can't quite remember why just at the moment. If you could act on that one I'd appreciate it. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:42, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Kanske något liknande Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, en list artikel men ändå ganska mycket information.
Theleftorium 17:19, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

GAN backlog elimination drive - 1 week to go
First off, on behalf of myself and my co-coordinator Wizardman, I would like to thank you for the efforts that you have made so far in this GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a success, and that is thanks to you. See this Signpost article about what this drive has achieved so far.
We're currently heading into the final week of the drive. At this time, if you have any GANs on review or on hold, you should be finishing off those reviews. Right now, we have more GANs on review or on hold than we do unreviewed. If you're going to start a GA review, please do so now so you can complete it by the end of the month and so that the nominator has a full 7-day window to address any concerns. See you at the finish! |

WikiCup 2010 April newsletter
Round two is over, and we are down to our final 32. For anyone interested in the final standings (though not arranged by group) this page has been compiled. Congratulations to Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to ThinkBlue (submissions) and Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Judge iMatthew has retired from Wikipedia, and we wish him the best. The competition has been ticking over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. A special thank you goes to participants Stone (submissions) and White Shadows (submissions) for their help in preparing for round three. Good luck everyone! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Thank you for your participation in the April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive
On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, I'd like to especially thank you for your efforts over this past month's GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a complete success, which hopefully results in more expedient good article reviews, increasing users' confidence in the good article nomination processes. Even if you made just a small contribution, it still helped contribute to the success of this drive. Here is what we have accomplished this last month in this drive.
For those who have accomplished certain objectives in the drive, awards will be coming shortly. Again, thank you for your help in the drive, and I hope you continue to help review GA nominations and overall improve the quality of articles here on Wikipedia. |

One question, can the file [File:Bob Saget on AFHV.jpg] stay in the article America's Funniest Home Videos? This is the only picture on Wikipedia that has Bob on the AFHV set, and I think it'll be great to keep it there instead of having it removed. Oh and BTW, I found the same picture on Google, TV.com, and on a facebook page. I'm sure it's not involved in any copyright issue. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MegastarLV (talk • contribs) 21:23, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi, you mentioned this site a while back when I was reviewing a GA nomination. I had used it before a few times, but when I was on the site in mid-March, my computer was infected with 108 assorted viruses, trojans, keyloggers, spyware files, etc. It overwrote some of the key Windows files, and I had to wipe my computer and reformat. I didn't have any other windows open, so I'm sure it was a problem from that site. I just wanted to mention this to you, because I don't want anyone else to have to go through the same thing. GaryColemanFan (talk) 04:41, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, this is odd. I think you might be too late. I had to reformat my computer for the first time two weekends ago (April 24) because of a trojan that wouldn't disappear (boaxxe.gen.d and generic!bg.gbd). It's very possible that it was caused by that site, but I didn't know that until know. Thanks for telling me! I guess I'll have to watch the episodes some other way now. Cheers! Hi. :) I'm going to be away from Wikipedia from May 13th until May 27th. If you have time, would you mind stalking my talk page a bit? Hello, sir. You recently informed me of two pics I used in an article (St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church) that may be deleted due to lack of sources or license. I'm afraid I do not know how to address this issue, at all. Is there any way you might be able to help me on this? It would be great if I could sort out this copyright stuff.Meteorico (talk) 00:54, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Image:Outsourced.jpg
Hello. I was hoping you could help me. You recently added 'FUR' to an image I uploaded. Since I didn't know what that was, I went to look. That's when I realized that Image:Outsourced.jpg was for an album cover, while I was trying to upload an image for Outsourced (TV series). I tried to revert my change to File:Outsourced.jpg, but it took a few tries. ote that I have since added the image I wanted under a new file name File:Outsourced-TVseries.jpg A few questions:
- Did I miss a warning somewhere that I was adding a new image to an already existing file? I didn't notice one. Or was I supposed to look to see if the file existed first? I realize now that the previous image at the bottom of the page did not show in my window (and I didn't scroll down, assuming (incorrectly) that it was a new file). My second mistake, the show is titled with a disambig title, I should have realized that the image file would also need a disambig.
- Can you please check that everything is ok with the file I screwed up? (Image:Outsourced.jpg) I checked both pages and both have the correct/desired image, but I'd like a 2nd pair of eyes.
Sorry about that. Clearly, I'm still learning. Thanks. --Logical Fuzz (talk) 18:53, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi! I'm actually not sure if you get a warning. I think you'd have to ask someone else about that. The file that you "screwed up" looks fine so there's nothing to worry about. :) Cheers, Theleftorium (talk) 19:01, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Need help in image copyright tags
Hi Henrik Thanks for your reminds in copyright status of the images I've uploaded during last 3days. I am in fact new to the uploading images and not that aware of all its affairs. The fact is most of the images that I've uploaded are free of license as they have created by some Iranian amautures have left freely in internet here and there in many Iranian websites and blogs , you can find many of these pics each in several web sites ,now considering this please kindly guide me under which category I can describe their copyright status? New Melleray Abbey chapel image
You posted a message that the chapel picture I uploaded would be deleted because its copyright was not clear. I photographed it myself and obtained permission from the abbot to use it. I cannot figure out how to add a copyright tag to that image, New_Melleray_chapel.jpg, or even find a page where it is stored, so I uploaded another & tried to tag it with one of the copyright tags I saw on the list, using my wiki editing name & my given name. Then I changed the picture in the wiki entry. If this is not correct, will you please direct me to a page that tells me how to edit the information needed? Thank you. Nobel Prize
Hej Theleftorium!
Esuzu (talk • contribs) 15:02, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

- Absolut inget problem! Jättesnällt :) Verkar ändå som det kommer ta längre tid att nominera den då problemet på PR inte verkar lösas så snabbt som jag trodde. Det är en editor som står lite väl hårt för en sak där. Ser fram emot dina kommentarer! Esuzu (talk • contribs) 20:04, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

27th Battalion
Hi, I have had a go at a rewriting 27th Battalion (Australia) for Newm30. It is here: User:AustralianRupert/Sandbox if you wish to take a look. I'm not sure how it is done, but perhaps this can be moved over the other article? — AustralianRupert (talk) 14:36, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm unable to check the book sources, but the rest seems good. Nice work! :) Did you write it all yourself or did you use some of Newm30's text? If you didn't then we can simply delete the other article and replace it with your sandbox version. Theleftorium (talk) 14:53, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for taking a look. I used some of Newm30's text as well as looking at his main source (and my own paper sources) to try to reorder the text, reword and expand. I have put it through the filter quite a few times now, so I believe that it should be okay now. How do we proceed from here now? — AustralianRupert (talk) 13:50, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- I think the best thing would be for you to just copy your text into the article. Unfortunately we can't delete the history of the old article because attribution is needed. Theleftorium (talk) 14:06, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 May newsletter
We are half way through round 3, with a little under a month to go. The current overall leader is Sasata (submissions), who has 570 points. He leads pool C. Pools A, B and D are led by Hunter Kahn (submissions), Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and White Shadows (submissions) respectively.
Two of last year's final 8, Theleftorium (submissions) and Scorpion0422 (submissions), have dropped out of the competition, saying they would rather their place went to someone who will have more time on their hands than them next round. On a related note, a special thank you goes to White Shadows (submissions) for his help behind the scenes once again. There is currently a problem with the poster, perhaps caused by the new skin- take a look at this discussion and see if you can help. The competition has continued to tick over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. Good luck to all! Deletion nominations
You nominated a number of images for deletion at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2010 June 4 but it might have been better to tag them for speedy deletion for having no source and no licence with {{di-no source no license}} as CSD takes less time than a formal nomination. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 15:47, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

- I see, but WP:CSD#F9 can only be used when an image has a licence tag attached and is an obvious copyvio. The images I saw have no copyright tag and no source but additionally happen to be copyvios. The csd process takes 7 days while the nomination route takes at least 14 days and one can always follow up if necessary when and if the uploader adds a false copyright tag and then F9 would be a valid and quick method. That's just the way I would do it, but your way is not wrong just different. I tag so many images that I tend to go for the fastest route. Keep up the good work, there are always lots of images that need to be tagged or nominated. Try this link for the untagged images from the past day as well as other copyvio tools. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 16:25, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess I should use CSD instead. But like I said on Stifle's talk, it just seems a bit.. unnecessary to tag an image with {{subst:nld}} when I know that the image will ultimately have to be deleted with {{subst:rfu}} if a copyright tag and a FUR is added. public TV
I know that you're smart enough to realize that public TV doesn't claim copyright. I'm not an active editor here any longer, so I don't really care, but... deleting stuff from CVTV because of copyright is just lame (let alon disingenuous).

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

List of tallest buildings in Dayton
Thank you for your help with the article List of tallest buildings in Dayton. I am happy that you are rewriting some of the material, and I am sorry if any of my good faith edits have caused you any distress. - Like Moonriddengirl, I can't remember half the stuff that I added to my monobook subpage. What I did back then was choose an administrator that seemed to have a good handle on scripts, then copied their monobook scripts onto mine -- then it just was a matter of playing around with the new tabs to find their capability. When deleting an already speedy tagged page, the user should have already been notified by the tagger -- I only include another message if there has been some significant talk page discussion. If you're talking about speedy deleting a page that has not yet been tagged (like on new page patrol), there is a "csd" button among your top buttons which includes a box to click for automatically notifying the user. — Cactus Writer (talk) 21:42, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, now you're an admin, so I guess that makes us enemies. I'll give you the best advice I can give: You gained so much support because you are an editor, not a wikilawyer; Don't let adminship go to your head; don't let the powers change your editing patterns; and if you ever travel back in time, don't step on anything. Best of luck, Scorpion0422 01:01, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 June newsletter
We're half way through 2010, and the end of the WikiCup is in sight! Round 3 is over, and we're down to our final 16. Our pool winners were Ian Rose (submissions) (A), Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) (B, and the round's overall leader), ThinkBlue (submissions) (C) Casliber (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions) (D, joint), but, with the scores reset, everything is to play for in our last pooled round. The pools will be up before midnight tonight, and have been selected randomly by J Milburn. This will be the toughest round yet, and so, as ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Though unaffiliated with the WikiCup, July sees the third Great Wikipedia Dramaout- a project with not dissimilar goals to the WikiCup. Everyone is welcome to take part and do their bit to contribute to the encyclopedia itself.
If you're interested in the scores for the last round of the Cup, please take a look at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Round 3 and Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Full/Round 3. Our thanks go to Stone (submissions) for compiling these. As was predicted, Group C ended up the "Group of Death", with 670 points required for second place, and, therefore, automatic promotion. This round will probably be even tougher- again, the top two from each of the two groups will make it through, while the twelve remaining participants will compete for four wildcard places- good luck everyone!
