WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum
[edit]Hi Smith Jones/Archive 1,
I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".
Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.
- Each casebook will have a subpage.
- Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
- It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
- Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
- I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.
What you can do now:
- 1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
- 2. If you're a law student,
- Email http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
- Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.
- (You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
- 3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.
Regards, Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 19:52, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
BLP
[edit]Re this edit, there is no WP:BLP issue with a person who died in 1992, and where the statement did not reflect on any other living person. The {{fact}} tag had only been put there a week ago anyway; it would be OK to allow the tag to stand so someone can provide a citation, rather than just delete it so soon. Your signature
[edit]A recent RfC/U seems to have ended with a consensus that within your signature, you must link to at least one of your userpage, talk page, or contributions. This is also laid out at WP:SIG. Currently, your signature links nowhere. Would you mind changing it? Thank you. → ROUX ₪ 21:09, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for trying to change your signature. However, it shows up as [[User talk:Smith Jones] which is not a valid link. You need to include another ] to make it work, or just sign with four tildes (~~~~). → ROUX ₪ 15:57, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for fixing it. Please also, when responding on my talkpage, use a new section and don't just put your responses wherever you feel like. → ROUX ₪ 16:02, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Nick Griffin
[edit]Hello, I couldn't help but notice that you had a user box which says that you support the policies and "views" of Nick Griffin. I am from a town called Keighley in the UK. Nick Griffin stood as a candidate there in 2005 for the general election, however he failed [1]. I just wanted to say that I've seen Nick Griffin at rallys before and I think he is a horrible evil man. I have personally heard him shout "..and kill all Pakis" at the end of a speech. He has met with the KKK in Texas before (Here is a video of him with a former KKK leader), he refuses to allow coloured/ black/ Asian people to be members of his political party and not only that, he denies the Holocaust and claims that it is a big lie (also in this video he admits he wants to send all non British people "home"). Here is Nick Griffin wearing a "White Power" T-shirt [2] and this is a picture of Nick Griffin's Bodyguard [3] I just wanted to make sure you were aware of his policies and "views" because I'm guessing your American and not many Americans are aware of him as such, because he is not involved in American politics. Hopefully you will be able to see Nick Griffin for what he really is. Regards Ijanderson (talk) 23:59, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Legislation based on Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories
[edit]A tag has been placed on Legislation based on Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.
If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 18:00, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
