If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chris Howland requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. andy (talk) 00:43, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Travelworks for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Travelworks is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Travelworks until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Jll (talk) 09:18, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When I wrote this article I was surprised that there were nearly no independent sources. Still I believe that everything said in this article is really safe to say. I understand the deletion of this article as proof that I haven't overlooked other sources, because if it had been possible to write a better article on this topic, somebody would have made the required improvements. The man from Nordhorn 18:53, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Brian Blessed

[edit]

I don't understand why you removed him being described as an English actor with that quote in the lead which described him as just British, they are not inclusive and English is a perfectly fine way to describe such a person in a BLP. I had to change it back because of the guidelines in Wikipedia:Nationality of people from the United Kingdom, but if you want to re-add the quote somewhere else in the article please do. --Τασουλα (Shalom!) (talk) 00:56, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, firstly I like to say that I am an admirer of Brian Blessed and that I enjoyed him especially as Scotsman in "Kidnapped" and in "Chasing the deer". I have been thinking he was Scottish. Anyway, he is a Briton as BBC stated. I think he (!) has no reason to complain about this statement. There are more Britons than Englishmen and therefore their statement seems to have even more weight the way they put it. I just wanted the readers to know straight away that even BBC holds im such high regards... Nordhorner II The man from Nordhorn 01:15, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

The article Strength sports has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

appears to be original research as there is no agreement in sources on what defines a strength sport. Many point to weightlifting olympic events instead.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 11:40, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I randomly came across an article on weightlifting and discovered an internal link to a non-existing article called "strength sports". So it occured to me I could actually try to fill the gap. If there is no demand for such an article after all, it is of course the best to have it deleted. The man from Nordhorn 18:53, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello Erik, today I had to work late but tomorrow I'll check everything out. Before your invitation I was planning on writing an article on Hunebelle's version of "The Three Musketeers" and I also considered to deliver an English translation of my German article about the upcoming German feature film "Hotel Lux". I also have to keep on working on my article on "My Little Princess" because Isabelle Huppert is giving interviews in Germany and every single interview is a ... bonanza! However, if I feel I can contribute to current projects you can count on me. The man from Nordhorn 23:33, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Zündwaren monopoly

[edit]

Hi,

Thanks so much for the Zündwaren monopoly article. It's very interesting!

I made some copy edits to the article, added links to some other related articles, and made some edits to the citations. The citations were my hardest thing to figure out when I started. Here's the link that shows you the changes that I made to the citations: Click here.

There are a couple of things to point out that may be helpful for you:

  • The "title" is the name of the article or referenced items.
  • "Work" isn't used much - in fact, I'm not even sure I remember how it's used.
  • "Publisher" is where you put the magazine journal, newspaper or web site owner.
  • "Date" is used for the date of the article or the date it's posted on the web site, if provided.
  • You don't need to provide the statement that you're using from the article. If you want to, I think the best way to do that is to use "quote" and put the statements in quotes. That gets a little trickier if the reference material is used for a number of points within the article.

For more info, check out Template:Cite web, Template:Cite journal, and Template:Cite book.

It may be that some of your sources have some of the information that still needs to be cited - I haven't looked. Let me know if you want help with that.

All in all, though, great work - and I love the images you've added to the article, too.--CaroleHenson (talk) 03:39, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting stuff, yes, thanks very much! Really I only popped in because of the habitant/inhabitant thing but I was interested to read the article and to hear from you, so: many thanks! Hello NordhornerII, and thanks for your message about Le Solitaire. I like to approach these things with friendly good humor, and I believe you do too. I marked this article as 'unreferenced' simply because it did not show any references at all. This does not automatically mean that reasonably good content should be deleted. (The more strict editors among us might think so. I don't.) There are 234,630 unreferenced articles on English wikipedia right this minute. Surely one more won't make the house collapse around us. I've added one reference to the article, restored your cast list and plot, which are perfectly fine, and removed the tag. And just as an offering, here's a link to "Mélodie en sous-sol" from 1963, the entire film, on YouTube. Discovered it the other day and I like Jean Gabin a lot. The jazz score is good too. All best to you! --Lockley (talk) 04:50, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Roger Bellon has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- Patchy1 02:52, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Tademark Policy Discussion

[edit]

Hi NordhornerII!

I noticed that you've contributed to the trademark article on Wikipedia. I wanted to reach out to you because the Wikimedia Foundation legal team has just released a draft trademark policy for consultation with the Wikimedia community. The purpose of the new draft is to facilitate permissive use of the Wikimedia trademarks for the community while preserving protection of the marks.

I thought that you may have an interesting perspective to add to this discussion, given your interest in trademark law. I would like to personally invite you to review the new draft and contribute any comments you may have. We plan to keep the discussion open for two months and incorporate the feedback into the final trademark policy. We hope this new version of the policy will make it easier for community members to use the logos to encourage Wikipedia editing.

Watermill: there is a lot that need to removed from this article- and one of the first tasks is to remove images that are off focus. Can you tell us why in global perspective this image is important? In the image description on commons you say it supports another mill and is the subject of an article on de:wikipedia. This stub article de:Niedermühle (Steinfurt) has a Kein Belegen tag, < no references> so we cannot verify the information. Have a look at Narborough Bone Mill to see how an article can be referenced- and then you may like to work up the the Steinfurt mills in the same way- and then do a translation so we have an English article too. Given time and access to the conservation group I could get quiet enthusiastic.

Back to the Watermill article - I can't see any reason why this mill is of world wide importance- there are no technical details- there is nothing to explain why it became on oil mill in the 17th century, or what it was before. I will change the caption- but still think it will eventually be removed. MFG -- Clem Rutter (talk) 21:11, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Afghan Knights has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

An unremarkable, small-budget movie; significant RS coverage not found. Article cited to online directories & blogs. Director does not have a wiki page, so there's no suitable redirect target.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. About the question you posted on the Help Desk

[edit]

When you edit with visual editing mode, the "add a citation" function (the one with quotation icon) can automatically generate the citation, or you can manually choose the form of citation. When you edit the citation, there will be an "Archived URL" field to fill in the archived link of the citation. Noted that you'll also need to fill in the "Archived Date" as well. If you don't know the archived link yet, you can lookup with the Wayback Machine. As far as I can tell, no registration with the Internet Archive is required. The Last Kumite

[edit]

Hi there! I just went through and removed a bunch of your edits, so I wanted to stop by and clarify. The section about The Last Kumite that you added to Bloodsport was too detailed and in-depth for an article about a different film. Most of that information would be best presented in an article specifically about The Last Kumite. I also removed the various links to that section that you set up on the pages of those associated with the project, since I removed the section.

I also note that you included IMDB as a source, and wanted to let you know that IMDB is not considered a reliable source, and is generally not used on Wikipedia.

And finally, your English is fantastic, but I did want to let you know that "homage" is spelled with only one M.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, feel free to reply; I've added your talkpage to my watch list. NekoKatsun (nyaa) 18:24, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
"hommage" is a French word and I hate the English misspelling. C'est affreux, sans blague.
However, I actually wanted to write an article about that film. Yet I wondered if the film would be recognized as notable. I didn't want to publish it just to watch it getting deleted.
Would you check it before I publish it?
Could we put the movie poster into it? I am in Germany and therefore under German law. No such thing as "fair use" here.
