[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Wend von Wietersheim, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Equestrian and Vseruby (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). SMS Condor and HRS
[edit]Hi MisterBee. I've started using HRS to write the article on SMS Condor - if you have a minute, would you mind checking my translation work after I'm done? I've played a bit with the structure and left out some things I didn't think were the most relevant, so it's not a straight word-for-word translation. Mostly I just want to make sure I haven't made any factual errors. Thanks. Parsecboy (talk) 18:12, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

[edit]The article Hyacinth Graf Strachwitz von Groß-Zauche und Camminetz you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . Hans-Joachim Marseille
[edit]According to a newspaper clip in Tate p. 125, Marseille's mother lived at Berlin W 30 Schwäbische Str. 9 [1] Do you know if this is correct? Dapi89 (talk) 11:12, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
- Excellent news. It does, thank you.
- On another note I wanted to draw your attention to Heaton & Lewis 2012, The Star of Africa. It has a lot of interviews with people who knew Marseille. Did you know he was a gifted pianist and during his time with the Nazi leadership in June 1942 when he was awarded the Diamonds, he played American Jazz music in front of Hitler, Goebbels, and Göring? He joked that Göring was gay because he wore nail polish! He also said to Goebbels that there was no point in trying to save himself for future generations since he doubted he would survive and fighter pilots would be unpopular in Germany when they lost the war anyway.
- I also read that Neumann and Franzisket agreed after the war that Marseille had heard that Jews were being deported from the Reich. Marseille started to ask questions about Jews that had disappeared from his neighbourhood - including the family doctor that oversaw his birth. Dapi89 (talk) 18:48, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Re: pleas to return
[edit]If you folks ever develop a written checklist(s) of A-List, A-Class, Featured Article, and Featured List requirements that can be referred to, I would give serious consideration to returning because I could pre-edit my work. However, I am not about to undergo any more "assessments via ambush".
The last assessment I was involved in made no changes perceptible to our reader. For this, I spent five years accumulating data to ensure a complete list, and a month's unsuccessful monkeying with code.

- Interesting question. The only explanation I get is that they were "inexplicably destroyed". Whether that was done deliberately or not is not clear. But before we start entering into conspiracy theories, we need to understand the mentality of the British at the end of the war. A lot of the British National Archives were gutted and some valuable documents were lost, either through carelessness, or because some bureaucrat in White Hall didn't see the need in keeping them or they took up too much space. The papers of Trafford Leigh-Mallory is a prime example; which is a shame because his approach to air operations is misunderstood and his papers would have served researchers well. So they had form for this kind of thing and I wouldn't regard it as 'hyper-unusual'. I understand that both Lindemann's and Lütjens' service records were reconstructed from the files of the Deutsche Dienststelle in Berlin in the 1950s. Perhaps this averted historical disaster? Dapi89 (talk) 18:43, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- BTW, I was planning on avoiding another repeat of what is already on Wikipedia about Bismarck. I was orientating this article toward the man himself, his view of the operation before it, his relationship with his officers, the view of the crew and their attitude toward him, and his tactical decisions. I have yet to work out an acceptable way to express this, but that is my intent. Dapi89 (talk) 18:52, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Mr. Bee - I'm working on SMS Kaiser Barbarossa and HRS mentions that a Princess Luise Sofie of Prussia christened the ship, but I have no idea who that might refer to. Category:Waffen-SS personnel
[edit]OK, I think I'm done adding people to the Category:Waffen-SS personnel. To make it, I completely exhausted all of the other language Wikipedias for it, including the German. I also exhausted the List of Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross recipients of the Waffen-SS. But I'm sure that there are more Waffen-SS personnel out there. I am aware that you do a lot of editing on these articles so I thought you would like to know about this.
If I may make a couple suggestions for improvement to the Waffen-SS officers articles:
- 1) A lot of them are missing the "People from..." category. I've added it for some of them but not all of them.
- 2) The officer rank that they held should be italicized, as these rank titles are foreign words. Also, "Waffen-SS" is technically hyphenated, but this is a minor issue. Hoops gza (talk) 18:22, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Dear, MisterBee1966. Thank you so much for your contributions to Walther von Brauchitsch's article. Because of you, we can now nominate it for GA status, so thank you very much for your work on the article. Jonas Vinther (talk) 20:36, 25 June 2014 (UTC) |
Brauchitsch
[edit]Hi mate. The reduced section (sentence) regarding Brauchitsch in World War I can defiantly be expanded, but then we should make a section solely for that. According to my sources (Hart), Brauchitsch did take part in the Battle of Verdun. Jonas Vinther (talk) 17:41, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
- And also, are your sources the already-linked to the article regarding his medals and promotions? Jonas Vinther (talk) 17:42, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
Hello
[edit]Interesting if true. Not beyond the realms of possibility. The smallest thing could influence Hitler. Bombing the German capital is a matter of losing political prestige, so it isn't difficult to imagine it was that raid which led to the towers being built.
Sorry about Gisela. It will be a few days before I get around to it. I have been very busy, and my interest in Wikipedia is waning a bit. Still, I'll get back to when I can. Dapi89 (talk) 19:50, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
I do. Thanks. Just drop in every now and again to maintain the articles you've done. No sense in letting them fall into disrepair. That way you don't have to commit too much time to Wikipedia. Dapi89 (talk) 18:10, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Military history reviewers' award | ||
By order of the Military History WikiProject coordinators, for your work on the WikiProject's Peer, Good Article, A-Class and Featured Article Candidate reviews for the period April to June 2014, I am delighted to award you these Wikistripes. During this period you undertook four reviews. Without reviewers it would be very difficult for our writers to achieve their goals of creating high quality content, so your efforts are greatly appreciated. We need a few more bodies in the line if we are going to complete our frontage this year, and with your experience I think you would be a good candidate, particularly as you've fulfilled the role before. [edit]G'day MB, I've been added info to Mickl's article in preparation for nominating it for FA. There are one or two things that weren't in the excerpt from Richter and Kobe you sent me, so I'm wondering if you can help. While p.157 states the Silver Military Merit Medal was awarded on 20 January 1917, the reason wasn't in the excerpt. Given he was wounded at the 8th Battle of Izonzo, perhaps it was from that, but don't have anything definite at present. Regards, Peacemaker67 (send... over) 09:26, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

[edit]I believe I have said it before, but I have never met anyone on this site, and with no disrespect intended to you, I have no intention of doing so either. So I am not bothered if I am part of a clan or not. And one should not have to feel part of a community to operate effectively or curry favour or influence either. I will take you to task over one thing in particular (actually two things): I don't question people's intelligence and I don't ridicule or alienate other editors. One can only chose to alienate ones self. I also seem to remember it was Parky that questioned my intelligence (not the other way around). I don't understand your train of thought either. You think I was, or trying to drive away members of the community? Or shall we say MilHist contributors? In which case it would be you. Given passed collaborations it doesn't seem like a sensible conclusion. And what insults? How exactly have I ridiculed them? If I have made whoever look silly, usually the cause is the weakness of their own arguments. The situation wasn't helped by getting Parky involved either. The man seems intent on opposing every point I make here. In fact, he made it worse. Finally, and I suppose this goes without saying, I'm disappointed at your inability to appreciate such a simple, logical, point. Far from implying it is down to depreciating intelligence, it just feels like bloody-mindedness. Dapi89 (talk) 19:15, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
