User talk:Jordan Elder
--Jordanpack (talk) 00:36, 25 March 2009 (UTC)==Welcome from Redwolf24==
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- Merging, redirecting, and renaming pages
- If you're ready for the complete list of Wikipedia documentation, there's also Wikipedia:Topical index.
Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.
Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

P.S. I like messages :-P
Image Tagging for Image:Quizmegame.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Quizmegame.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Your template
[edit]I saw your template up for deletion and wanted to let you know that if you really, really want to, you can make one or more pages like User:Jordan Elder/mytemplate and then include its contents anywhere with {{User:Jordan Elder/mytemplate}} or {{subst:User:Jordan Elder/mytemplate}}. I have a few of these that I use for certain purposes, usually within my user space.
I wouldn't use this for sigs, though. A few comments:
- As you've heard, 4 tildes is easier.
- You shouldn't use a template for sigs.
- If you use a template for sigs, which you shouldn't, you should make sure to subst it.
- The cool thing about your template is it meant that the date respected date preferences, so I saw it as ISO standard. Which I liked, but still they should just fix that in the Mediawiki software rather than requiring that kind of rigamarole (and encouraging the bad practice of templates in sigs).
- I don't like colored signatures. But clearly I'm in the extreme minority here. I'm hoping that practice just goes away eventually. :) Personal preference.
Anyway, just sharing Mediawiki tips. :) Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 21:45, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
I have fixed your userpage query
[edit]Hope this is what you wanted, I've aligned your boxes to the right as per your request on your user page. If this is not as you want, please get back to me. Bobo. 18:44, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the infobox to my page. I changed some stuff around as I saw fit.
I saw you had the user page query up there and I thought it would have been easier just fixing it rather than telling you on your talk page in case you were tied up and unable to get back to me. I hope this is okay, the userboxes look pretty good.
Sadly the Canada userbox is narrower than the other userboxes, but the overall width of the maximum box is the same as the length of a sensible box. If you want help with anything else, please feel free to ask. Bobo. 02:24, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Your VandalProof Application
[edit]Dear Jordan Elder,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Daniel.Bryant 02:48, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Billy Talent "Surrender"
[edit]I scanned it from the album booklet but every single for Billy Talent on the album Billy Talent II is like that. I couldn't find the single cover for it, so I made one that was perfectly fine. You should not delete it, but you can if you find the real single cover for it.
Yo.
[edit]WHY IS MY SIGNATURE NOT WORKING??? --Jordan Elder talk 04:09, Sunday December 15 2024 (UTC) 04:16, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe this will work. --Jordan Elder talk 04:09, Sunday, December 15, 2024 (UTC) 04:18, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK, maybe it's not, but this is definitely weird. Why is this happening? The text "talk" in my signature shouldn't be bold, and it should be a link to my talk page. The date also appears twice, but in the page that I subst it from, User:Jordan Elder/coolsig, it is perfectly fine. Strange. --Jordan Elder talk 04:09, Sunday, December 15, 2024 (UTC) 04:22, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think it changed. --Jordan Elder talk 04:09, Sunday, December 15, 2024 (UTC) 04:26, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Nope, same problem. --Jordan Elder talk 04:09, Sunday, December 15, 2024 (UTC) 04:26, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Working now?
[edit]- Nope. --Jordan Elder talk 04:09, Sunday, December 15, 2024 (UTC) 04:29, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well, let's try this. --Jordan Elder talk 00:03, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- The extra date is gone, but the talk text is still bold, and it is not a link? WHY?? --Jordan Elder talk 00:04, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- NO, don't say it. That's because I'm ON my talk page! D'oh! --Jordan Elder talk 00:04, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

You say this article is not true. OK, I have absolutely no personal knowledge of the subject. Google appears to contradict you. Could I please ask you to detail your argument, before I delete the page?--Anthony.bradbury 23:40, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK. That's good enough for me.--Anthony.bradbury 23:46, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Not English
[edit]Hi there; an article written in a language other than English does not qualify thereby for a {{speedy}} deletion tag. Please add a {{notenglish}} tag, which allows time for the article to be either translated or transwikied. Or, ok, deleted.--Anthony.bradbury 21:17, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Prince George Flag
[edit]I don't remember licensing this. Could you provide a diff? I probably changed the licensing while using WP:AWB to repair something from WP:TFD. I know extremely little about copyright, so if you think you're right, by all means, you don;t have to consult me about it. Thanks for your time. RyanGerbil10(Don't ask 'bout Camden) 01:05, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Cool. Thanks. Yeah, I won't touch copyright TfDs unless they're clear-cut, so apparently the tag I removed was incorrect, but I have no idea what the correct tag might be. Then again, the TfD may not have been correct, either. Go ahead and change it. Thanks for digging up the diff. RyanGerbil10(Don't ask 'bout Camden) 01:10, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Tagging of The Palmer House
[edit]I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on The Palmer House. I do not think that The Palmer House fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because While the article was a very brief stub, the hotel is very notable. I have expanded it significantly. Fair use rationale for Image:RCAC Private.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:RCAC Private.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 16:57, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
