French article translation
[edit]Can you help me translate fr:Prince Punuari'i Teri'itapunui Pomare and fr:Prince Teri'itua Tuavira Joinville Pomare?--KAVEBEAR (talk) 08:19, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
Help at Mylène Farmer please
[edit]Hi. I got your name from Wikipedia:Translators_available#French-to-English. If you have time, could you please give an opinion about the table at Mylène_Farmer#Companies_owned_by_Farmer? Concerns I have (based on the link given in the reference for the section) include:
- The search for the companies was performed with just "Mylène" (not "Mylène Farmer"), and therefore companies were possibly returned that are not related to the subject.
- The resulting list at the source gives far less information than is in the WP table. E.g. no details about the other column headings: Immatriculation, Legal status, Activity, Headquarters, Capital, Trivia.
- Does the source indicate that she owns the companies, or does she just have other roles (e.g. director)?
- Is Societe.com a reliable source?
How much of the table information would you keep based on the information given at the reference link? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Cheers. GFHandel ♬ 21:55, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
Translation of 95 year old philosophy.
[edit]Greetings,
I am trying to get a team together who would finally translate "Sistema di logica come teoria del conoscere" into English. I thought Wikipedia's list of Italian-to-English translators might be a good group to 'hit up' on this subject. If personal assistance cannot be provided, perhaps suggestions or helping point me in the right direction of who might be willing to help? Best regards & thank you. Translation request it->en
[edit]Hi! Could you please "accurately" translate the following sentence:
"La ladinità bellunese è piuttosto etnica che linguistica, e le varietà parlate dei comuni ladini sono dei dialetti veneti alpini grammaticalmente non diversi da quelli dei comuni che non si sono dichiarati ladini"
(from the document: [1], page 79)
My particular requests refer to following parts:
- "bellunese" refers to the whole province, or only to the town of Belluno?
- "non diversi" is a Litotes and should be translated as "identical" or simply as "does not differ"?
Thanks in advance--Sajoch (talk) 23:42, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input. IMHO "Ladinity" is ok. As you agree that "non diversi" is a litotes, I woudn't translate it with something weaker (that's not what the autor intended), and thus have opted for the literal translation "no different".--Sajoch (talk) 18:12, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Article upgrade assistance request (Pre-translation stage)
[edit]Seasons Greetings,
This is in reference to a relatively new umbrella article on en-wikipedia named Ceremonial pole. Ceremonial pole is a human tradition since ancient times; either existed in past at some point of time, or still exists in some cultures across global continents from north to south & from east to west. Ceremonial poles are used to symbolize a variety of concepts in several different world cultures.
Through article Ceremonial pole we intend to take encyclopedic note of cultural aspects and festive celebrations around Ceremonial pole as an umbrella article and want to have historical, mythological, anthropological aspects, reverence or worships wherever concerned as a small part.
While Ceremonial poles have a long past and strong presence but usually less discussed subject. Even before we seek translation of this article in global languages, we need to have more encyclopedic information/input about Ceremonial poles from all global cultures and languages. And we seek your assistance in the same.
Since other contributors to the article are insisting for reliable sources and Standard native english; If your contributions get deleted (for some reason like linguistics or may be your information is reliable but unfortunately dosent match expectations of other editors) , please do list the same on Talk:Ceremonial pole page so that other wikipedians may help improve by interlanguage collaborations, and/or some other language wikipedias may be interested in giving more importance to reliablity of information over other factors on their respective wikipedia.
This particular request is being made to you since your user name is listed in Wikipedia:Translators available list.
Thanking you with warm regards Mahitgar (talk) 05:38, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:11, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
