Abour NPPS
I'm deeply sorry for the long absence, I've been struggling with motivation and lacking the passion to edit, as well as work robbing me of time, I ask if we can put it on hold for now until I can return myself fully to here. James-the-Charizard (talk to me!) (contribs) 01:36, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- James-the-Charizard Good day. Thank you for the message above. We all at times find certain personal/work situations need more of our attention and time. I am always here and so is Wikipedia certainly. Pop back here when you are ready to return and we can continue your program where you left off. Take care James and stay safe. Trying to create Belonia (Vidhan Sabha constituency)
Hi, I was trying to create Belonia (Vidhan Sabha constituency) and a warning popped up saying that you moved a previous version to draft space. I've temporarily created the article in my userspace (User:MPGuy2824/Belonia (Vidhan Sabha constituency)). I'm not sure what problem you had with the previous version (since the draft article has also been deleted), but if my version does not have those problems, then give me the go-ahead to move this to the article space. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:47, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- MPGuy2824 goo day. I would not know the history log of the page since it is deleted. If the page was moved by me to draft space that is usually the page doest do not have enough independent reliable source to pass the notability guidelines to be in the Wikipedia main space. the current version still have the same issue. Kindly read WP:Your First Article for further information. You can create the article in draft. Pls go go Wikipedia:Articles for creation - read and follow the instructions. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 07:27, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- I've moved the page to drafts. Will submit for review after adding more references and data. MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:01, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Reply tool
The Reply tool is available at most other Wikipedias.
- The Reply tool has been deployed as an opt-out preference to all editors at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.
- It is also available as a Beta Feature at almost all Wikipedias except for the English, Russian, and German-language Wikipedias. If it is not available at your wiki, you can request it by following these simple instructions.
Research notes:
- As of January 2021, more than 3,500 editors have used the Reply tool to post about 70,000 comments.
- There is preliminary data from the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedia on the Reply tool. Junior Contributors who use the Reply tool are more likely to publish the comments that they start writing than those who use full-page wikitext editing.[1]
- The Editing and Parsing teams have significantly reduced the number of edits that affect other parts of the page. About 0.3% of edits did this during the last month.[2] Some of the remaining changes are automatic corrections for Special:LintErrors.
- A large A/B test will start soon.[3] This is part of the process to offer the Reply tool to everyone. During this test, half of all editors at 24 Wikipedias (not including the English Wikipedia) will have the Reply tool automatically enabled, and half will not. Editors at those Wikipeedias can still turn it on or off for their own accounts in Special:Preferences.
New discussion tool
The new tool for starting new discussions (new sections) will join the Discussion tools in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures at the end of January. You can try the tool for yourself.[4] You can leave feedback in this thread or on the talk page.
Next: Notifications
During Talk pages consultation 2019, editors said that it should be easier to know about new activity in conversations they are interested in. The Notifications project is just beginning. What would help you become aware of new comments? What's working with the current system? Which pages at your wiki should the team look at? Please post your advice at mw:Talk:Talk pages project/Notifications.

Apply for protection for UFC 257
@Cassiopeia: It's kinda getting wild on that page, best to apply protection. HeinzMaster (talk) 04:45, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- HeinzMaster I have requested the page to be protected 3 hours ago, but no action is done yet (it is very common as most admin is resided in US and it is wee hour at the moment over there and most of them would be sound asleep). The page supposed to be protected until midnight tonight, somehow some technical things happened and it didnt work. Btw thank you for reverting my event, no sure what did I press and blank some content of the page. Take care. Cassiopeia(talk) 04:52, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Need your help regarding notability issue
Hello Cassiopeia! Long time no see) As you were my mentor and I really appreciate the way you approach the notability issues, I have decided to consult with you. I have written the article dedicated to South African artist Helen Martins. Now her name redirects to her main accomplishment - The Owl House (museum) she is famous for. There's some information about her life in the article, but I thought dividing them would be fine. But now as I sat down to create the Helen Martins separate article, I stopped in doubt. Is she notable to have a separate article of is it better to leave all as it is. Could you please share your thoughts? The most solid sources are New Dictionary of South African Biography, this webpage, Artsy, a book - Ross, Sue Imrie (1997). This is my world : the life of Helen Martins, creator of the Owl House. Cape Town: Oxford University Press. ISBN 978-0195715163 - these sources are dedicated to her rather than the Owl House, there's a whole bunch of others, but those concentrate rather on the museum (you can see them in the museums article).
I would really appreciate your opinion. I feel a bit lost with this one. Thank you! Less Unless (talk) 15:51, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
- Less Unless Good to hear from you. Subject needs to pass either Wp:GNG or WP:ARTIST. All the 3 sources provided above are independent; however, sources from https://artanddesigninspiration.com and https://www.artsy.net would considered not reliable as published sources need to be from reputation site with fact-checking and accuracy which I dont think the two sources above meet the requirements. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk)

I can't even remember WHAT we added to his page. Can you please explain to me WHAT you removed and more detail as to WHY? Here is the page with your reference on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:2600:1700:80F0:6840:74E4:5EE9:1E8C:8682 -- ALSO, HOW can we, or can you assist us in starting a page for the ISCF, International Sport Combat Federation. - 2600:1700:80F0:6840:74E4:5EE9:1E8C:8682 Good day Steve. You edited 2 articles, Andre Fili and Anthony Hernandez (fighter), both on June 2020, where by there are no sources provided for such I reverted your edits - see your edits Fili-here and Hernandez here. In Wikipedia, content changed or added need to be supported by independent, reliable source such as from the newspaper to verify the claim. In additional since you are the CEO of ISCF which means you have WP:COI (conflict of interest]], and Wikipedia strong discourage editor with CoI edit any affected pages which they have association with. This means you are discourage to write International Sport Combat Federation article in Wikipedia; however, you can request any willing editors to edit or create any pages which you have a CoI - see WP:Request edit, by providing all the sources which the content of the article could derivate from the sources. To say that, I have a quick check on the internal for sources which would be used to create ISCF article and I found none that could be used to meet Wikipedia company/organization or WP:GNG guidelines. Anyway, you could find more info by reading WP:Your First Article for creating an article in Wikipedia. Do click on all the blue highlighted texts if you would like to have more detail information of the topics. Lastly, do not provide your personal detail such as your email on any Wikipedia talk pages for your own privacy concern. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:04, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
I want to join CVUA
Hi, I'm an editor who edited Chinese Wikipedia 10000 times. I believe I have enough experience to enter CVU. However, since I have only edited the main namespace 400 times in English Wikipedia, I can only participate in this at present. Anyway, I'd like to ask you to approve my request. Did you know? Alcremie's 1000th edit was made very close to the 20th anniversary day of Wikipedia. 07:56, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Update: I've edited more than thousand times in English Wikipedia. I've been warned once about creating a lot of template sandboxes, But now I no longer edit the template namespace.Did you know? - IN Good day. May I know you intend do the counter vandalism work in English Wikipedia or Chinese Wikipedia? Cassiopeia(talk) 08:32, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I want to be a enwiki new page reviewer in the future. I want to join CVUA first, and join NPPS when I graduated CVUA. Did you know? Alcremie's 1000th edit was made very close to the 20th anniversary day of Wikipedia. 10:32, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

- IN Pls note that I might not check my Wikipedia a few times a day, as I have to go work, so pls be patient but I will reply you. I asked the question above (English or Chinese Wikipedia), it is because each Wikipedia language site operates independently from each other and for such they would not have the same guidelines for some areas. What you would learn in English Wikipedia counter vandalism might not be same as in Chinese Wikipedia. Secondly, all correspondence and exercises would need to be in English and if you use translation (as you mentioned in your talk page), then that would be some problems as many vandalism edits might not be written in proper English but in slang. If you think you can manage then let me know and I will set up the program for you. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 05:51, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- I can manage them. I don't know all the slang, but at least it's enough to deal with anti vandal. In addition, if I encounter some uncertain vandal, I will try to skip it or ask the administrator for help.--Did you know? - IN, I have set up the program for you. Please read the communication section at the bottom of the assignment. Pls read the links (reading material) before answering the questions. If you are not sure of the edits, pls leave it alone and let other more experience counter vandalism fighters to action. If you have any questions about the assignment, write to me on the communication section. For other topics which is not related to the assignment, write to me on the program talk page. Hey
Hey, just asking what you think to do with the Papaursa proposal on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Mixed_martial_arts/MMA_notability
HeinzMaster (talk) 04:32, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- HeinzMaster, The proposal is the same as current except adding " Fight Matrix (fightmatrix.com)" on point 3. So not much change in term of adding more fighters' pages in Wikipedia. Let the proposal run for another 2+ week (one month for the proposal as the norm). I will either vote on it or close the proposal. I would want to propose (after this one) to add Women Bellator as it has passed the requirements needed since last year. Btw I need to know if you want to officially abandonment your proposal so I could close it. I thank you very much for adding so much value and contribution to MMA related articles. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 05:06, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Cassiopeia: Ya, I think the new papaursa proposal is the better option and I am abandoning the first one. Easier to keep track, clearer, and still accomplishes what I set out to do. And no problem, I enjoy it and I am a fan of MMA. It's nice free time relaxer. HeinzMaster (talk) 03:40, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- HeinzMaster, Since you want to abandoned the first/your proposal, then do indicate in the proposal threat and you might want to inform those who have voted for the proposal so they may know why and might want to vote on Papaaursa's proposal. I will close your proposal after have indicated in your proposal threat. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 04:28, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Cassiopeia: Done, hope I was clear enough in my explanation. HeinzMaster (talk) 07:22, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- HeinzMaster, Will close the proposal next week to give the editors the chance to read your message and also let the proposal runs for 1 month from the date your initial edit. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:09, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

- Imcdc I have reviewed the page, but I think the page is in the boderlines of not passing the notability guideliens. Even thought there are sources indicating the gym notable fighters, however, more content supported by sources are needed where by the sources talk about the gym itself. I have tried to find more info on the internet but no much besides what you have listed. Do try to add more content(+sources) when they have available for the page might subject to be nominated for article for deletion.

I would like to join CVUA
Hi Cassiopeia, I would like you to take me under your wing. I have been thinking about becoming a rollback and joining CVUA for months now since Galendalia was unfortunately blocked for sockpuppetry, but I could not bring myself to you for a while. Now, I'm a pending changes reviewer and I would like to become a rollback. However, I don't have a confidence to request that user right, since I'm not quite brave enough to face vandals by myself. I think joining CVUA will help me a lot to get confidence in fighting directly against vandals, and eventual request to become a rollbacker in the future. As such, I want to become a CVUA student. Thank you, MarioJump83! 01:37, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- MarioJump83 May I ask what is the connection between you and Galendalia? and English Wiki counter vandalism work only main for EN Wiki only and not cross planform in meta. Cassiopeia(talk) 05:24, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- To be honest here, there is no connection between me and Galendalia at all. I am completely different person - to be very clear, I hail from and was born in Indonesia, while Galendalia hails from San Diego, United States. I was happened to observe what led into Galendalia's indefinite block and subsequent socking around the time I'm fighting against a vandal, which is later found as LTA Bedriczwaleta. Since Galendalia was a CVUA graduate, it was shocking to me that Galendalia fell into sockpuppetry. I see that as a stain in CVUA history, and this motivated me to think about joining CVUA to make sure it doesn't happen again. Now, I decided to jump in it after six months thinking about doing it. CVUA should be a stepping stone for eventual rollbackers, not sockpuppeteers.
- MarioJump83 May I ask what is the connection between you and Galendalia? and English Wiki counter vandalism work only main for EN Wiki only and not cross planform in meta. Cassiopeia(talk) 05:24, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- By the way, thanks for informing me about enwiki counter vandalism work. I will intend to do that counter vandalism work in here only. Thanks, MarioJump83! 10:05, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- MarioJump83 Thank your for the info and the links above about Galendalia. I have a quick read some of the messages on ANI and their talk page. I understand why he was banned and subsequent his SPI block and I also your reason of concern. Galendalia is not the only CUVA graduate that was banned after their graduation and most if not all the reason is because their behavior rather then their knowledge of Wikipedia guidelines. (Note: CUVA do have a section about CSD but briefly and not in detail). There were also many editors that I encountered, came back as a sock and get themselves banned again. One of them that I believe you have interaction with, User:HurricaneTracker495 where their were referred to me after their CUVA trainer could not do so - see here Referring a CVU person to you! and HurricaneTracker495's participation in CVUA. They didnt work on a single exercises I set up and got banned for SPI 2/3 weeks later.
- The keys thing are (1) you dont do any related counter vandalism work on any pages when you are not sure of the edits/how to apply the guidelines. Instead just leave the edit alone and let other more experience counter vandalism editor to action. (2) be civil at all time and learn from your mistakes as we all make them from time to time and I am no exception.
- To say all that, it is not a good reason to participate in CUVA program just because you want certain user right. To objective of enrolling in CUVA is to learn about the guidelines and doing practically exercise on counter vandalism work because you want to be a vandalism fighter in your time as the editor in Wikipedia and not only obtain the user right and abandoned counter vandalism work totally after that. My question is that how often you do counter vandalism work and why are you interested in counter vandalism work? Cassiopeia(talk) 01:08, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- I understand with were you are saying. I will do my best to do them - though I prefer to do exercises slow and steady due to my priorities in real life. By the way, I am going to answer your questions here:
- 1. I do my counter-vandalism work quite often, but I do them as soon as I have seen something wrong within the article, not through recent changes patrol. For example, there is a vandalism from the IP 151.244.190.241 on Toxic (song). It was left undetected for some reason. When I found out about it, it took me some time before finally reverted. Then, I warned that IP about it. There's a reason why I don't do recent changes patrol, and it's because I fear reprisals from vandals themselves, and this is why I am not quite confident enough. I'm looking to join CVUA because I want to build that confidence to fight these vandals on recent changes patrol without any fear. These guidelines and exercises from CVUA will be very important for me.
- 2. Reasons why I'm very interested in counter-vandalism work is because I see vandalism as a force that could hurt Wikipedia if left unchecked and as well to assist other people who fights against vandalism in the wiki. Regarding possible hat collecting situation, I'm not going to seek these user rights for minimal use. In fact, as soon as I got these user rights, I put them into a good use.
- Thank you. I am excited to join CVUA! MarioJump83! 02:06, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- MarioJump83 I have set up the program for you and do note you might have to check on the recent changes for some of the exercises and understanding for certain topics in the program. Pls read the communication section below the assignment and reading material / links provide before answering the questions. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:05, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Jiří Procházka
I saw your posting of this at AfD and I checked and saw you weren't alerted to the notability discussion going on at WT:MMANOT#Change in Notability Criteria Proposal. It looks like it will pass. The difference between the new and existing criteria is that the new one would make a fighter ranked in the world top 10 by either sherdog or fightmatrix notable, regardless of promotion. I think it's a far better criteria and would definitely impact this Afd as Procházka is ranked in the top 10 by both rating groups. Papaursa (talk) 00:28, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Papaursa Good day. I post the AfD before the your proposal. I will close HeinzMaster's proposal in a few days as he has abandoned it. I will also either vote (if there is an uninvolved editor to close the proposal) or close your proposal after one month of the initial proposal date (Normally, a normal discussion in talk page could be closed in one week if no continuing discussion, but for SSG notability guidelines a month is appropriate). I can not comment much on your proposal here as I would (as mentioned above) either vote or close your proposal so I need to stay uninvolved for the moment. Even if Jiri Procházka page is deleted before your proposal is closed we have a copy in another draft page and I will review it and place in main space once you proposal is passed. So all is good. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 01:21, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- I am glad you are keeping a copy. I was going to suggest that at the AfD discussion. I don't think the discussion at WT:MMANOT needs to go on for a month if there is a clear consensus. That is because I believe it still needs to go up for discussion at WT:NSPORT before it becomes fully accepted and becomes part of WP:NMMA. That's the usual procedure for modifying sports notability procedures. Papaursa (talk) 02:08, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Papaursa Oh yes, we need to go through WT:NSPORT. Ok then, will vote/close out the proposal in 2 days (2 weeks from the initial date of proposal. Thank you for reaching out. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 02:17, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Problems
- IPv6 addresses were written in lowercase letters in diffs. This caused dead links since Special:Contributions only accepted uppercase letters for the IPs. This has been fixed. [11]
Changes later this week
- You can soon use Wikidata to link to pages on the multilingual Wikisource. [12]
- Often editors use a "non-breaking space" to make a gap between two items when reading but still show them together. This can be used to avoid a line break. You will now be able to add new ones via the special character tool in the 2010, 2017, and visual editors. The character will be shown in the visual editor as a space with a grey background. [13][14]
- Wikis use abuse filters to stop bad edits being made. Filter maintainers can now use syntax like
1.2.3.4 - 1.2.3.55
as well as the1.2.3.4/27
syntax for IP ranges. [15] - The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 2 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 3 February. It will be on all wikis from 4 February (calendar).
Future changes
- Minerva is the skin Wikimedia wikis use for mobile traffic. When a page is protected and you can't edit it you can normally read the source wikicode. This doesn't work on Minerva on mobile devices. This is being fixed. Some text might overlap. This is because your community needs to update MediaWiki:Protectedpagetext to work on mobile. You can read more. [16][17]
- Cloud VPS and Toolforge will change the IP address they use to contact the wikis. The new IP address will be
185.15.56.1
. This will happen on February 8. You can read more.
