Citing your changes to population

[edit]

Hello, I recently noticed that you've been changing the contents of a large number of infoboxes in articles about Pakistani regions. Your edits appear to be well intentioned, but please remember to add citations for all edits like the ones you're making right now. Changing the population of a region isn't a simple copyedit to fix up wording, it's updating information that comes from somewhere, and we need to know where that information comes from and if it's reliable. Thank you for understanding, and please do get back to me. Sirocco745 (talk) 06:14, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey,
All the data is being added from official sources of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Here is the official website:

Thanks for responding pretty quickly! It would appear that the 2023 census has been linked to on those pages you've updated, so all is good! Just make sure to double check that you've cited your sources, and a quick tip: you can use the edit summary to clarify where you got your information if it's from a reference that the article already uses! Writing something like "Performed undone task: Updating population data from Pakistan 2023 Census, see reference [1]" will instantly tell other Wikipedia users a) what you did, b) why you did it, and c) where you got your information from!
