Dr. Bill Clifford

Dr. Clifford is a practicing opthalmologist and United States Air Force Veteran. On September 12, 2019 Dr. Clifford announced his bid [1] to represent Kansas's 1st congressional district in 2020, for the seat being vacated by Roger Marshall (politician). Dr. Clifford is a member of the Republican Party (United States). Dr. Clifford has been recognized in Ingram's Magazine of Kansas City as one of the "fifty people you should know in Kansas"[2].

Millitary Service

Dr. Clifford earned his degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 1976. He completed Air Force jet training in the Northrop T-38 Talon and Cessna T-37 Tweet trainers, earning Pilot Wings in 1977. He then finished advanced jet training in the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, and was assigned to the 525th Fighter Squadron in Bitburg where he served from 1978 to 1983. Flying more than 1,000 hours throughout the European Theater in support of NATO during the Cold War. Clifford earned the honor of "Eagle Driver". Dr. Clifford met his wife Jean an United States Air Force attorney.


Carreer After Service

After Dr. Clifford's time serving the United States he attended University of Southern California Medical School graduating in 1989. Dr. Clifford then completed an internship at the University of Utah Hospital in 1990. He completed his opthalmology residency training in 1994 at the University of Oklahoma Dean McGee Eye Institute. From 1994 to 1995, Dr. Clifford was on the ophthalmic staff at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Araia, while his wife was an Air Force reservist. The Clifford's returned to the United States in 1995 moving to Garden City, Kansas where Dr. Clifford has practiced for 25 years [3].

Personal Life

Dr. Clifford resides in Garden City, Kansas where he practices ophthalmology. Dr. Clifford and his wife Jean have 6 children.
