Divisions as of January 1, 1998

Original regions (established in 1996) - not sure about the divisions:

  • Northern Lines (6): Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Oregon, Pacific, Washington
  • Burlington Lines (5): Colorado, Kansas, Kansas City?, Nebraska, Powder River
  • Santa Fe Lines (10): Amarillo?, Arizona, Chicago, Illinois, Memphis, New Mexico, Northern California, Southern California, Springfield, Texas

Kansas Division moved from Burlington Lines to Santa Fe Lines effective August 1, 1996; back to Burlington Lines in early 1997

Gulf Division split from Texas Division in early 1997

3 regions combined into 2 in early 1997 (after the above?): North and South

Split into 8 regions effective January 1, 1998, with 4 new divisions created (but weren't there 21 both before and after?)

Mid-2000: new Los Angeles Terminal Division, Kansas City Division merged into Kansas Division, Arizona Division moved into Amarillo Service Region

5 regions became 3 effective May 1, 2007? [1]
