Chabahar Maritime University is located in Chabahar port and teaches sciences and disciplines related to maritime and marine sciences and techniques.
Importance
[edit]This university, which is located in the super-strategic and commercial port of Chabahar, is now one of the specialized universities and the hub of education and research in the maritime and marine sciences industry of Iran and the Middle East, and has 3 faculties and about 3 thousand students studying.
History
[edit]In 1976, with the cooperation of the University of Southampton, England and the University of Sistan and Baluchistan, it was founded under the name "Chabahar School of Maritime and Marine Sciences" to train the specialist force of the country's naval fleet, and it was managed and led by English consultants and lecturers.
In 1978, with the victory of the Iranian Islamic Revolution and the establishment of the Cultural Revolution, all non-Iranian teachers left the university, and all educational, research and executive affairs were entrusted to Iranian professors. In other words, all courses that were previously taught by foreign professors are now taught by Iranian professors, especially distinguished graduates of this university who have obtained their degrees using the scholarship of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology or the same university in first-rate universities abroad. and is managed.
This university was separated from the University of Sistan and Baluchistan in 2002 and continued its work as an independent higher education center for seafaring and marine sciences until 2005, and from June 2005 it was promoted from a higher education center to a university, and the new fields of shipbuilding engineering, Electronics engineering and marine telecommunications and fisheries engineering, civil engineering, marine business and management, and business economics were also added to the previous fields.
This university is required to provide specialized and mandatory courses in English based on international standards, based on the STCW Convention and the regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) affiliated to the United Nations, in order to train students in some fields of study that have an international aspect. With the establishment of the quality management system in this university, the quality and quantity of the content of some courses, the ability of teachers, educational and research facilities, the holding of specialized courses, exams and the welfare facilities of this university are inspected by DNV, TÜV NORD and the Ports and Maritime Organization. Iran is periodically and randomly audited to comply with global standards.
Currently, this university is one of the most prominent scientific and research universities in the fields of marine sciences and techniques in the region with 32 majors/specializations in undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees and on a full-time daily, evening and campus basis. By the end of 2015, this university has trained and graduated about four thousand seafarers in the fields of marine engineering and marine engineering in the areas of deck and engine room command of commercial ships.
