Nawabzada Malik Umar khan belongs to a political family from Pindigheb District Attock. His Paternal grandfather Nawabzada Malik Sarfaraz Hussain khan was elected as MLA in 1951 on the ticket of Muslim league. After wards his paternal uncle Malik Fateh khan was also elected as MPA in 1970. His maternal Grandfather Malik Ameer Muhammad khan was elected MNA in 1988. Prince Malik Atta Mohammad khan from kot fateh khan ex MPA was also a relative of him. His 1st cousin Maj (R) Malik Azam Khan Gheba became Member, Punjab Assembly during 2012-13 on (pml-n) ticket. His brother in law Chaudhry Sher Ali served as Member, District Council Attock during 1987-93. He remained Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 2008-13 and returned to Punjab Assembly for the second consecutive term in general elections of 2013 (pml-n) and functioned as Minister for Mines & Minerals. He also worked as Minister for Energy from 2013. Nawabzada Malik Umar khan’s whole family belongs to Pakistan muslim league N(pml).Mian Muhammad Nawaz sharif and Shehbaz sharif have visited his house in Pindigheb on several occasions. In 2018 they organised a huge jalsa at his home for the Shehbaz Sharif attock rally.He studied in Aitchison college Lahore and completed his graduation from Punjab University. After completing his studies he came into politics and joined Muslim league noon (pmln) in 2009. He struggled for the party in every platform and every election campaign. He is also married into a political family. His wife is grand daughter of Malik Allah yar khan of khunda who was a prominent parliamentarian from 1947 till his death in 2008. Malik Allahyar was successful in formulating the Khunda group which has thrived in the district for more than seven decades. Through out his life all the political leaders of Pakistan have visited his home in khunda,from presidents to prime ministers.After his death, Malik Allahyar's son Malik Aitbar khan represented the group in the 2008 and 2013 elections. Aitbar Khan is a Pakistani politician who was previously in the Pakistan Army in the early 1970s. Moreover, he also operated as an Assistant Commissioner. Aitbar khan was elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from Constituency PP-19 (Attock-V) in 2008 Pakistani general election. He received 41,003 votes and won. He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency NA-58 (Attock-II) in 2013 Pakistani general election. He received 85,244 votes and defeated a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. In the 2018 elections, Malik Allahyar's older son Malik Shehryar khan contested as an independent candidate from NA-56 Attock II. He is a retired senior bureaucrat. His wife’s maternal grandfather was another great politician Sardar Sarfraz khan of khunda. He served as member District Council Attock upto 1958. Having been first elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, PP-14 (Attock): PML(N),he served it upto 1977; functioned as member of the National Assemby from 1985 to 1988; and had again been elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in 1997.Nawabzada Malik Umar khan is working for the betterment of his home town and his people. He and his family have made huge contributions to the society. They have given their own land free for the construction of government Hospitals, schools playgrounds, government offices and graveyards.
