[edit]I had added a link to an extensive interview in Balkan Insight, which has good coverage if the concert in Royal Albert Hall. Somewhere this got lost, and I would like to put it back but have not mastered the templates well enough to do it. So I'll need some help. https://balkaninsight.com/2021/04/09/from-belgrade-to-london-roma-girl-band-sings-for-female-empowerment/ Martha (talk) 23:11, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- It looks like it's reference #4 right now. SilverserenC 23:16, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
Things keep moving around! I just put it back (wrongly formatted) as reference #8! I seem to be interering with other editors now, so I will stop muddying the waters. Pls forgive someone who hasn't done any Wikipedia editing in a very long time, and thanks to ALL for the help that's showing up! Martha (talk) 23:23, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, @Martha Forsyth:, I think I see the source of your confusion. What I was doing was conglomerating the same source under the same reference tag. You don't want to have multiple versions of the same reference in the reference list, so you use the "Ref name" to combine them under a single reference. That's what I did with the one you added. So if you look at Reference #4, you'll see the "a b" at the front and that links to the two separate usages of that same reference, one of them being what you added in. Nothing's disappearing, i'm just making sure the reference list is formatted properly. SilverserenC 23:30, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, I gradually realized this was what was going on! I'll shut up now until I have something useful and NEW to add. I'm in awe of the amount of attention this has gotten, and very deeply grateful. I used to be able to do citations properly, but it was many years ago...not only have things changed, but I'm out of practice! You may notice that I had already conglomerated at least one reference. Martha (talk) 23:34, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Martha Forsyth:! Just FYI, there's a huge number of different ways that different editors do references (as you can see by jumping around different articles), so confusion is understandable :-). It's sort of odd that the article got the "vote for/against deletion" thing, but maybe that automatically happens with new articles (or new articles about bands that could well be self-promotional). But it seems pretty well established by now that the topic is worth an article. Finney1234 (talk) 23:08, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- A deletion nomination for a new article about a band isn't automatic, Finney1234, although it probably is quite common as I imagine inexperienced editors often create articles about non-notable bands. However, the editor who made the nomination seems pretty inexperienced themself and it seems very likely the article will be kept. Cordless Larry (talk) 17:23, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- It does make me wonder, Cordless Larry, since the nominator is both a new account and their username is Serbian, if this AfD nomination wasn't entirely made in good faith and was instead more vindictive toward the band because of the subject matter they cover. Since you'd think they would be aware, more than any of the rest of us, of the large amount of coverage in Serbian news sources there is on the band. SilverserenC 17:31, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

- Hi @Finney1234:! Well, it's certainly a better article now than it was when I first put it up. And I'm heartened by the response. The one more thing I'd like is a photo of them, but not sure how to do that. I'm capable of screen-capturing, but I'm concerned about using something that's not supposed to be used that way. I expect that will take care of itself, in time. Martha (talk) 04:41, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

- @Martha Forsyth: Note that in some cases it's possible to use copyrighted photos under terms of "fair use"; I've done it before. I don't have the Wikipedia references handy, though. Write to the band and ask them for a photo! Finney1234 (talk) 15:19, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- I did, waiting for a reply! —Martha (talk) 21:53, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
References removed??
[edit]Silver: I see that not only have all the copies of the AP article in different newspapers disappeared (that seems fine to me, they ARE all the same article) but is the article itself not worth mentioning? The link was: https://apnews.com/article/europe-serbia-health-coronavirus-pandemic-arts-and-entertainment-dcf6bfb2d16a0ea9f8a0c0ceaa33d967 - this might make it easier to put it back, if that's advisable. Martha (talk) 01:02, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- It's still in there as reference #1. I removed the duplicates, yeah. I was planning on conglomerating them, but I saw that the rest were just being used in a paragraph just saying that articles were written about the band, which I didn't feel was something that needed to be included. So I just kept the one usage of it in the lede. SilverserenC 01:07, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- Duh..... I did look for it, but I missed it! Thanks for straightening me out, and again for all your work. Maybe it's an acceptable article now??? Martha (talk) 01:46, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

- Looks fine to me. Article is new enough, though a subject to an AfD but the result is most likely keep and would be closed as kept.
QPQ is required. No copyright issues. Hook is also interesting and inline cited in the article.Cordless Larry, please update with the QPQ.Thanks ─ The Aafī (talk) 15:46, 6 July 2021 (UTC)- Good to go. QPQ updated. ─ The Aafī (talk) 18:16, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

[edit]I appreciate all the help from people who know sources I was not aware of! I'm hoping the article is now safe from deletion, but it never hurts to make it better. I would like to add a photo, but am not sure which photos are freely available. Anyone know how fluid the membership is? I haven't seen much about that. But I would imagine there's a lot of fluidity. -Martha (talk) 23:22, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
