Position?
[edit]It would seem from the article that "Mindrolling Trichen" is a hereditary title - is it so? Is it a position? Sylvain1972 15:03, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

My (limited) understanding is that yes, 'Mindrolling Trichen' is a conferred title that is typically passed along patrilineally. However, in at least one instance the end of the partilineal line resulted in the Mindrolling Trichen's daughter's son being conferred with the title instead. 'Mindrolling History Project' <ref> https://www.khandrorinpoche.org/documents/mindrolling-history.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj_6vKzxaGKAxX0IUQIHUlsDxMQFnoECBgQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1CWcNZz0pj58mbCh6zAD6N<ref>
This brings up a wider potential issue around the titling of the page, as the article only discusses the life of the eleventh Minrolling Trichen. Perhaps the article title should reflect this specificity? Or be expanded to reflect other incarnations of the Mindrolling Trichen? This would ideally be done in by a subject matter expert in Buddhism / Tibetan Buddhism, to appropriately handle verbiage around reincarnation. --

Celibacy/Marriage discussion
[edit]Some seemingly unnecessary information about monastic celibacy in Buddhism has been included to explain why Trichen Jurme Kunzang Wangyal was married (1st paragraph in 'Biography'). I hesitated to remove just in case, but I suggest someone with more wiki editing experience consider removing these sentences. JuniperusAsinus (talk) 05:43, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
