Disputed - Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop

[edit]

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop at 941 Bourbon St. was constructed in 1770-1772. No buildings from the 1720s or 1730s exist in New Orleans, which is a well-established fact. The owners of Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop (which has never been proven to have been a blacksmith shop) misrepresent the bar's age and historical importance (claiming it is the oldest bar in the United States). While the building may very well be the second oldest in the French Quarter and is undoubtedly important, it is falsely listed as the oldest in this entry, along with incorrect dates. The oldest building in New Orleans is the Old Ursuline Convent. FrenchQuarterJeremy (talk) 05:05, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
