Basava Puranam → Basava Purana – Undiscussed moving of a page by a user, as per COMMONNAME, there are 13 results for Basava Purana in JSTOR, 3 results for Basava Puranam, while in Internet Archive there are 10 results for Basava Purana & 6 for Basava Puranam. - Basava Puranam is the actual name of the work by Palkuriki Somanatha. Nikh Nori (talk) 13:04, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- But it doesn't falls under the criteria of WP:COMMONNAME, where the name should be presented in many works and being popular among it, also the Google has 1,34,000 results for Basava Purana and 7,240 results for Basava Puranam, the users should not be misguided or feel wrong when searching about this work Karnandus (talk) 07:48, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- Encyclopaedia of Indian Literature uses Basava Puranam. Even English books written by Kannada authors also use Basava Puranam. As we generally go by reliable sources, Basava Puranam is apt as it is both the original title of the book, as well as the preferred variant in more reliable academic sources. Nikh Nori (talk) 07:23, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- But it is not widely seen as 'Basava Puranam' elsewhere, like it is seen in JSTOR, Archive & results in Internet, as discussed above, and they support the criteria of WP:COMMONNAME, many pages in Wikipedia end with 'Purana' like Adipurana, Mahapurana, Garuda Purana etc and the author of Basava Puranam you mentioned is Pandita Peddamatamu Rachaveera Devara & translation and introduction given by a scholar named Velcheru Narayana Rao who sound more like Telugu persons than Kannada Karnandus (talk) 08:32, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

- But "Basava Purana" satisfies the criteria for common name.
- A simple search on Google gives a clear picture as to Why "Basava Purana" is a more appropriate Name. There are more articles ending with "Purana". Also words ending with " pura" are seen in Wikipedia And other works Kataariveera (talk) 16:00, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
