Win>nom in lead; removal of Dutta award
[edit]Shouldn't the lead favor wins>nom, and why is Dutta's win being removed here. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 07:28, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- Supporting category has more weight then a Debut category and mostly only Filmfare Awards are mentioned in the lead. This is a non-controversial edit and I don't think it even qualifies a discussion. Plus your logic of win>nom is confusing because you removed that category mention as whole and not just added that Screen Award. Also Chopra was also nominated for that Screen category and we cannot mention all the awards in the lead. Can we?Krish | Talk To Me 07:34, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- I guess Krish's removal was with regards to keeping only Filmfare awards in the lead section (IMO, since there are numerous Indian film award ceremonies, only NFA and FF should be mentioned), and not bias towards actresses. Also, since when did "Andaaz" come to mean "Evaluation"? I always thought it meant style. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:38, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- "keeping only Filmfare awards in the lead section" -- but this should not at the cost of removing an important win at Screen Awards by a co-star. This unwritten need to limit to FF and NFA arises when a film has won a lot of honours over several award ceremonies, and the need is to be concise in the lead. That's not the case here. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 07:41, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- Chopra was nominated for the same award which Dutta won. So we will have to mention that as well. Plus then why only leave Zee Cine? We cannot add every award in lead especially when only three awarding bodies are in the body.Krish | Talk To Me 07:49, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- Exactly, Chopra didn't win it. Dutta did. And a win is obviously more important than a nomination, and is thus favoured in lead, isn't that right SNUGGUMS? The film hasn't won any awards at Zee Cine, so why should we mention it? Krimuk2.0 (talk) 07:52, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- I have written over a dozen of film articles and yet was never questioned anything like this. Dutta was not a sole nominee from that film in that category. Chopra was nominated for the same award. Plus I am against Screen Awards being added in the lead as we cannot mention each and every award in the lead.Krish | Talk To Me 07:56, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- I'm not gonna play good cop/bad cop here (sorry Krimuk, no offence intended), but I'm agreeing with both of you in different ways. Krish's view that there shouldn't be too many awards listed, and Krimuk's view that other awards should be listed if there is anything important to it, similar to WP:FILMRATINGS. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:13, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- But don't you think the Best Supporting nomination should be mentioned like it is used in majority of article? Acting nominations are always mentioned in leads. Krimuk 2.0 removed a major acting nomination but added a win for a category where both actresses were nominated.Krish | Talk To Me 08:23, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- The major awards of any ceremony are producing, directing, acting and writing. If the film has received nominations in these categories, they should be mentioned in the lead. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:27, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- That's how it was earlier but Krimuk 2.0 removed the acting nomination as he felt it was not notable.Krish | Talk To Me 08:34, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

In response to my ping, yes; wins are more lead-worthy than mere noms regardless of what the awards are. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 13:03, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- SNUGGUMS So you mean every win should be in the lead (the film has won 3 awards only)? And a major acting nomination like Best Supporting Actress should not be included in the lead? Also Chopra was nominated for Screen too which Dutta won so that should not be mentioned? Then why leave Zee Cine Awards alone?Krish | Talk To Me 13:05, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- You're putting too much emphasis to categories of awards. My above comment doesn't mean leave out the noms, just that the wins should be a bigger focus. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 13:10, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- SNUGGUMS You forgot to read the heading of the discussion "win>nom". That editor thinks the Screen win should be mentioned but not Filmfare Best Supporting Actress nom. My point was to only mention the Filmfare Awards like how it is is most film articles.Krish | Talk To Me 13:25, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- I actually did read that and what I said before still stands. Don't blindly assume something should be done a certain way solely because other pages have done it. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 14:30, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- SNUGGUMS But you agree that the Best Supporting Actress nomination should be in the lead, right? That's all I have been saying.Krish | Talk To Me 14:34, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- As long as you don't downplay wins just to mention it, I'd be fine with this inclusion. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 16:32, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- Sounds about right.Krish | Talk To Me 05:05, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- SNUGGUMS and Kailash29792 Is this alright: "At the 49th Filmfare Awards, Andaaz received five nominations, including Best Supporting Actress for Chopra, and won the Best Female Debut for Dutta and Chopra. Both the actress were nominated for the Screen Award for Best Female Debut, which Dutta won."?Krish | Talk To Me 05:07, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- Looks good to me. Hope whoever conducts the GA review will also be satisfied. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:09, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- I have no objections to that. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 12:54, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- As per the consensus, I have added it in the lead. Thanks for the discussion guys.Krish | Talk To Me 07:12, 18 March 2020 (UTC)

"...suggests to her father that Kajal is married off" in "Plot"
[edit]I'm copy editing this article, but don't understand the meaning of this phrase in "Plot". Can someone (particularly someone who has seen the film) explain to me what this means?Andrewwinn3 (talk) 18:12, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Andrewwinn3: I haven't seen it, but my guess would be that she's suggesting Kajal should be married [off] to someone. I would further guess that her parents are "responsible" for the widow Kajal as Kajal joined their family through marriage. I initially thought that Jiya might have feelings of jealousy or concern that Kajal is getting too close to Jiya's fiancé-to-be, but the later part of the plot seems to indicate that she was pushing this in order to make them confront their feelings. Again, just my guesses here. Hope that helps! – Reidgreg (talk) 11:09, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

Lead
[edit]Not much to say, just two questions:
- Are you sure Andaaz means evaluation? In the context of the film, how? I always thought it meant style. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:44, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- The song "Kisi Se Tum Pyaar Karo" describes the method of evaluating love by analyzing characteristics, making judgement and the outcomes which fits the exact definition of evaluation. Both Kumar and Dutta's characters face outcomes of not opening about their love as they were way too analytical of their friendship and love, I think.Krish | Talk To Me 09:32, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- "the film centers around an" – I'd go with revolves around. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:44, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
Production
[edit]- "Raj Kanwar approached Suneel Darshan" - Would it be good to mention "Suneel Darshan of Shree Krishna International" here? Because the production company hasn't yet been mentioned except for the infobox. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:44, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- "The pairing of Chopra and Kumar has proven to be particularly effective, with all of their collaborations being box office successes" - Not noteworthy for this section I guess. Perhaps for another section like "Release and reception" or "Impact". Kailash29792 (talk) 05:44, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- I have added this in "Impact" section but do you think more stuff can be added there other then their pairing? Like how Chopra went on to become a huge name in Bollywood and is doing Hollywood now? Same for Dutta who had also a fairly successful career. Also should this "Following the release of their last film together, several attempts have been made by different producers and directors to bring the pair again in films but the attempts did not come to fruition" be there?Krish | Talk To Me 09:32, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- To quote a legend, just do it. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:01, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Soundtrack
[edit]- "Andaaz's soundtrack was composed by the Indian music duo Nadeem–Shravan" - Indian not so necessary IMO, unless they are from a different country. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:44, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
Nothing else to say. Just that, despite your long hiatus, you still got gas in the tank. And that means pass, so congratulations! Kailash29792 (talk) 14:02, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
