Tyler Baylor is an American football defensive lineman who is currently the ticketing & fundraising specialist for the Maryland Terrapins, a position he has held since 2024. He previously played college football for the Maryland Terrapins and the Kent State Golden Flashes.

Early life and high school

Baylor grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and attended Our Lady of Good Counsel High School where he lettered in football and basketball. In his high school career, Baylor completed 36 total tackles (10 solo & 26 assisted) along with 1.0 tackles for loss. Baylor would also catch 4.0 sacks for 12 yards.[1] Baylor was a three-star rated recruit and committed to play college football at the University of Maryland, College Park[2] over offers from Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Tennessee.[3]

College career

Maryland

During Baylor's true freshman season in 2018, he appeared in four games.[4] During the 2019 season, he appeared in seven games, finishing the season with 10 total tackles (five solo & five assisted), 1.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.[4] During the 2020 season, he appeared in all five games after transitioning from a defensive lineman to a tight end.[5] During the 2021 season, he appeared in all 13 games, playing back on the defensive line and finishing the season with nine total tackles (seven solo & two assisted), two tackles for loss for seven yards and one sack for a one yard loss.[4] During the 2022 season, he appeared in eight games, finishing the season with seven total tackles (five solo & two assisted) and making his first career start against Northwestern.[6]

On December 1, 2022, Baylor announced that he would be entering the transfer portal.[7]

Kent State

On January 9, 2023, Baylor announced that he would be transferring to Kent State for his final year of eligibility.[8]

During the 2023 season, he appeared in all 12 games and started eight of them on the defensive line, finishing the season with 26 recorded tackles (eight solo & 18 assisted), two tackles for a loss for three yards and a pass breakup.[9]
