The Battle of Urmar Tanda was fought in June 1763 by the Sikh forces led by Jassa Singh Ahluwalia and the Afghan forces led by Bishambar Das.
Event
[edit]In the Jalandhar Doab the Sikhs were opposed by Bishambar Das, the diwan of Adina Beg. He assembled an army of about 25,000-30,000 troops and attacked the Sikh.[1][2] A Sikh named Karora Singh decapitated him in battle which made his army retreat.[3][4][5][6]
Aftermath
[edit]Jassa Singh Ahluwalia occupied a large number of villages and carved out a small state for himself. Other Sikh sardars also seized land which was once under their control in the Jalandhar Doab.[4]
