Abies jaliscana, the Jalisco fir, is a species of conifer in the family Pinaceae. Previously considered by some researches as Abies guatemalensis[3], the species is endemic to the Western Mexican state of Jalisco[2], where the name originates. A. Jaliscana was found to dominate in fir forests in western Mexico, with elevations from 1750-2450m[4]. Radial growth in A. jaliscana, increases with an increase in elevation, suggesting that this is the primary climatic element affecting radial growth[5]. At the moment, A. jaliscana, is under the protection of the Mexican Endangered Species Act, due to its limited distribution[6].
