::Thanks so much for your response and even more for a workaround filled with crunchy goodness (not only did I get a return of the stuff at the bottom of the edit box, I got a fancy new toolbar at the top)! It works great!! I had considered the possibility that the code-wranglers ("wrangler" in the sense of one who looks after and tends to the code on the website) were working on something but I didn't know enough about possibilities to say anything in my original post.

::Will this be the end of the matter or will there be a need at some point for me to further tweak the settings? Or is that something which hasn't been determined? Just curious... In response to your feedback

Thank you, and that would make you a wikignome...and everybody seems to dislike edit-ears, still they happen. Cheers.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Railway turntable, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wye (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Request for assistance.

Ever since I first started editing WP, at the bottom of the edit box there have been a set of tools which I could use, if I so chose, in the process of editing (like the clickable set of "ref tags") and a bunch of other symbols I could click on. This feature still appears when I click "Edit" on an article or on My sandbox and the edit page starts to load, but once loading is complete this tool or set of tools disappear(s). This toolset also appears briefly when I click the "Show preview" button to check/proofread the changes I have made.

I have checked the appropriate setting in the My preferences section. I un-checked and re-checked a box and, just for giggles, instructed the site to restore all defaults (which I hadn't altered anyway). I am unaware of anything else I might have done (or clicked on) to either hide or delete this feature and I have not found anything on any edit page which suggests itself as something I could use to get this feature back. I also purged my browser's cache and removed all cookies. Does anybody have a clue?

Note: I regret that the hour is late and I must log off. I will also concede that this is not an urgent matter so that one who is able to offer assistance may not hear back from me until tomorrow at the earliest. I apologize, in advance, for the delay. Thanks so much for your response and even more for a workaround filled with crunchy goodness (not only did I get a return of the stuff at the bottom of the edit box, I got a fancy new toolbar at the top)! It works great!! I had considered the possibility that the code-wranglers ("wrangler" in the sense of one who looks after and tends to the code on the website) were working on something but I didn't know enough about possibilities to say anything in my original post.
Will this be the end of the matter or will there be a need at some point for me to further tweak the settings? Or is that something which hasn't been determined? Just curious... Again, thank you!  :-) NorthCoastReader (talk) 00:26, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
