Lila Cockrell

I am a Texan, and Lila Cockrell was a lifetime registered Republican. I do not understand the obsession to delete history from people’s mind. I do certify she was a registered Republican. Gabrielmelissa2015 (talk) 04:44, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You need to provide a reliable source that states that she was, indeed, a Republican. You cannot just say she was a Republican without any evidence backing it up.
@Gabrielmelissa2015: I see that you have provided such evidence. I accept your source as reliable, just please in the future provide such a source before adding material into articles. Thank you. SkyWarrior 04:57, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SkyWarrior: 1. which what authority do you delete or modify information? 2. Before deleting an article, shouldn’t you provide a reliable source to dispute?

I accept that the source you provided is reliable enough to claim that Cockrell is a Republican. I will allow your addition of that fact in the article to stay. However, her political affiliation should not be mentioned in the very first sentence, as we typically don't do that for politicians. I have instead moved the information to the "Political career" section, where it best belongs. SkyWarrior 05:28, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia podcast

Hi @SkyWarrior, hope you're all good. I'm writing from a podcast production company in the UK and we're making a documentary series about Wikipedia and the people who work on it. I was looking at the George Michael page to see who was working on it after his death was announced and came across your name. I'd love to talk to you more to hear what it's like working on a constantly changing situation as new news comes in, especially on such a big figure - and especially on Christmas day! Would you be happy and available to talk to me sometime? Thanks Wearecrowd (talk) 10:15, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Wearecrowd, thank you for the message. Unfortunately, I am uninterested in providing an audio/video interview at this time.
I am, however, willing to answer some questions over email; you may email me using this link; please be aware that I may not respond to any emails immediately; at this time, I am most likely to respond to emails between 8pm and 2am ET. SkyWarrior 00:58, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks very much. I might well send you over some questions. Cheers Wearecrowd (talk) 07:15, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Territories of the United States discussion

Greetings! I see at Talk:Territories of the United States/Archive 2#Merger proposal 2 that User:Delasse wants to merge Insular area and Territories of the United States into Territories and insular possessions of the United States. According to WP:MERGEINIT, targeting a non-existent destination is a perfectly reasonable thing to do in a merge proposal. Reverting Delasse's unilateral page move until there is consensus for the merge makes sense, but I also see that you have closed the merge discussion and asked them to propose a page move instead. Moving to the proposed destination would not make sense if a merge is not happening, so it seems this creates a catch-22 where the question we are trying to get consensus on cannot ever be discussed. So, I'm writing to ask that the procedural close be reverted so that editors who participated in the first merge proposal can weigh in; I expect the second merge proposal will be more popular since it takes the comments of opponents into account. Thanks! -- Beland (talk) 20:00, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a comment here. I will not be reverting my procedural close, for reasons stated at Talk:Territories of the United States. SkyWarrior 01:50, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Needing to provide sources even though they’re already there?

[1] But they’re already there. Why should I provide a source when it’s cited already? Xfhxzf (talk) 18:34, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Xfhxzf: Please point to the exact source that claims Green died of skin cancer as opposed to liver cirrhosis. Either I'm missing something or you didn't read the articles properly. Throast (talk | contribs) 22:19, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Although the sources do say he had skin cancer, it was in remission when he died. The sources in the article state that only liver cirrhosis caused his death, not anything else. SkyWarrior 01:39, 5 November 2021 (UTC
OK, Skywarrior, Throast I misread it, the cited sources said he had skin cancer but beat it, but this article that wasn't cited did say the cause of his death was skin cancer. So that was a miss. Xfhxzf (talk) 02:12, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Xfhxzf: It actually doesn't, they do phrase it kind of weirdly though. Someone scanning the article might conclude that he died as a result of the cancer but further down, they do elaborate that the cancer went into remission and he died of cirrhosis instead. Please be thorough when you read sources before editing BLPs, especially in regards to personal information. Throast (talk | contribs) 10:47, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dosen't matter! It still says he died of cancer first. And I am in regards. Thanks. Xfhxzf (talk) 04:25, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the correction.

I assumed Talk pages were removed as addressed or as no longer applicable (since they’re always archived in history) so that new active conversations wouldn’t get lost at the bottom. I apologize for my misunderstanding. Kdmckale (talk) 20:11, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's fine. Please see WP:ARCHIVENOTDELETE for more information. (Although, with how little is on that talk page, it should just be left alone and not archived). SkyWarrior 20:13, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I found this when I started researching it more: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Archiving_a_talk_page I agree it is very little, just VERY old in some cases. I just didn’t want latter conversations to get missed. 🙂 Kdmckale (talk) 20:17, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Understandable. Just so you know, though, archiving talk page posts is not the same as removing it from the talk page; it's a whole different and (somewhat) complex process. SkyWarrior 20:24, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah yeah…I got that now with my research and what makes Talk pages different from regular pages and why one has to archive Talk pages instead of doing what one would do with a regular page. 🙂

Do you know if all Talk pages append new conversations to the bottom? I’m just wondering because a descending sort would lessen the need to archive even more. --Kdmckale (talk) 21:06, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, all talk pages put new discussions at the bottom; this is how the system is programmed and is generally expected this be done. SkyWarrior 00:44, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Apology

Hi,SkyWarrior! I'm here to talk about your recent removal of one of the edits from this IP. I would first like to state that I do NOT know who wrote this. This IP is for the Homer High School and I appreciate the removal of whatever my classmates wrote. I understand Wikipedia is a shared resource and profusely apologize for whatever transgressions this school has done. I am a freshman here at HHS and use Wikipedia a BUNCH but have never edited it before, so sorry if I'm doing this wrong! Anyway, I was wondering if you know anyone who could block edits from this IP? I have never heard a student here say anything really productive, and i think it would be good in the long run. Honestly, I'm a shamed I am sharing a school with someone who thinks adding that someone's from "big pp land" to a article about presidents. Well, kkep up that good work and thanks for spreading the wealth of knowledge on the internet!

       Thanks, Raiden Skorski-O'Donnell from HHS

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:43, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"SchoolsWP" listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has identified a potential problem with the redirect SchoolsWP and has thus listed it for discussion. This discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 January 10#SchoolsWP until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Thryduulf (talk) 12:20, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Meta Quotes.

I would like to leave a factual account of the metaquotes whitelabel scams please.

This is my opinion piece but I can write a neutral account if needs be.

This needs to be in the public eye. I will write a factual account. https://www.hatton-li-traders.com/about-4 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grandmastergav (talkcontribs) 21:05, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Grandmastergav: Content written on Wikipedia requires the content to be reliably sourced, preferably by independent sources. The link you provided above is the only source provided to the content, and it is not independent and, as an opinion piece by some random guy on the Internet, is not exactly reliable. Furthermore, since it is an opinion piece that doesn't cite any sources in itself, it can be considered original research, which in most instances (such as this one) is prohibited.
What you could do is find additional, reliable, and independent sources that describe this alleged scam, and then, and only then, could we consider adding that information back into the article. SkyWarrior 21:17, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ashley Judd

You have removed content I updated in the Personal section of Ashley Judds' page. I am in disagreement with your removal of this information, as it has been well-documented all over the media and internet, including by Ashley Judd herself in a televised interview with Diane Sawyer. There is no better citation than that.

72.135.192.71 (talk) 21:37, 22 May 2022 (UTC) CH[reply]

I'll look into it further, but ultimately the onus is on you to provide the reliable source that claims that what you added to Judd's article is true, especially in cases like this that involve a biography of a living person, which we are much stricter about in regards to unsourced content. SkyWarrior 21:43, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay so good news: I found a reliable source confirming what you put into the article: [2]
That being said, I will not reinstate the content, as I'm not 100% confident it should appear in the article anyways. Others may disagree with me however, and I will not object to you re-adding the content yourself. (Just please provide a reliable source, such as the one I found, with the edit if you do so.) ACC tool re-instatement request approved

Thank you for your interest in re-instating your activity with the account creation process. I have verified that you have signed the newest confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information, approved your re-instatement request, and re-activated your ACC tool user account. It is now set as 'active', in good standing, and is ready to use.

You may access the ACC tool user interface by clicking here. Before you resume handling and processing any new user account requests, please ensure you have read and understood both the ACC account creation guide and Wikipedia's username policy, to re-familiarize yourself with the process and to make note of any changes that may have been made during your inactivity.

I've already verified and re-subscribed you to the private ACC mailing list using the email address that you gave to me (and have been using to communicate with me privately). Do you have a nick on the liberia.chat IRC server? If you do, please respond to me via email so that I can verify you and add you to the #wikipedia-en-acc private channel. If you don't, I recommend that you join us there, though this is not mandatory at all.

You're of course already aware of this, but do note that the failure to correctly assess requests will result in suspension of tool access. Account creation is not a race, and each request should be handled diligently and thoroughly. And, I'm sure I need not remind you, but I must also state that releasing any kind of non-public personal identifying information (such as an IP address, email addresses, or other non-public information regarding a request), whether intentionally or unintentionally, is treated extremely seriously and will generally result in immediate suspension.

Currently, as your account status stands, you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, and you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked as "Flagged user needed" on the interface. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Account creator.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. That should be all! Thanks again, and welcome back! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:35, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Account Creator

Hi SkyWarrior,

Given that you got your ACC access back, I would recommend requesting Account Creator permissions at WP:PERM/ACC so you can better handle the requests :)

Thanks for the message Rich Smith. I plan on requesting the permissions soon; I just wanted to get used to the program again. SkyWarrior 02:01, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good :) Just making sure you know the right place to do so - RichT|C|E-Mail 02:06, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
