Delition of Indian side belligerent on Operation Blue Star
Why were the changes to the Operation Blue Star page rolled back? Zebby123 (talk) 15:17, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- There is no evidence the United Kingdom or Israel participated in Operation Blue Star. As per the source you cited the commandos were trained in Israel that doesn't mean Israel participated in the operation. Also, Anandpur Sahib Resolution has nothing to do with Khalistan. See the article talk page for more. GSS 💬 15:42, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
The Anandpur Sahib Resolution was what Bhindranwale was fighting for, not for Khalistan. If what you say about Israel doesn't mean they participated, why is the ISI left in as a belligerent when as per the book cited they didn't participate in the fighting either? Zebby123 (talk) 15:52, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- Do I need to argue with you on this? NO.. I'm not free for your POV-pushing so, see article talk page request changes there. GSS 💬 15:57, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Avantika Vandanapu's edits reverted
Hello, I have provided evidence for Avantika's performance in Diary of a Future president as well as Mira, Royal Detective and I have quoted Disney's own online magazine as a source. You have reverted the whole edit without providing any explanation as to why you had to do it? Being a senior editor, you have the responsibility to review the changes before you decide to roll them back. Can you please provide an explanation why those changes don't belong in the article?
- You need to provide some third party sources to support your claim and use the article talk page to request changes per WP:COIEDIT also, please see WP:SOCK. GSS 💬 05:01, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- What do you mean third party sources? I provided third party claims before and I was told to provide sources from Disney, and I provided sources with Disney and you are asking me for third party sources? Can you google "Avantika Vandanapu, Mira Royal Detective" in Google and suggest what source would be an acceptable source for you? There are a whole bunch of them. (oh, I already went the route of Suggested Edits).

- No, The tag was placed by Doc James as per off-wiki evidence so, let experienced editors handle this. Also, you removed this tag twice using different IP addresses and this is a violation of WP:SOCK and if you were paid to remove this tag you need to disclose per WP:PAID. GSS 💬 04:59, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- Ok. How are you aware of this off-wiki evidence? There is no discussion on the talk page of this, is this normal procedure? To me it seems odd, shouldn't there be SOME indication? NO, I am not paid. I was looking up the frantics for unrelated reasons. Sometimes if I see something strange and/or incorrect on wiki, I challenge and/or change it. --2607:FEA8:875F:F91F:A1BD:A287:93D9:4291 (talk) 05:06, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- I have skimmed through WP:SOCK and I see nothing about using two different address. I am not using an account at all. This is allowed. See the section 'editing while logged out' --2607:FEA8:875F:F91F:A1BD:A287:93D9:4291 (talk) 05:15, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- Editing while logged out is allowed, but abusing multiple IPs isn't and you removed the tag using three different IP addresses since it was placed. GSS 💬 05:29, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- I removed it twice, once a few days ago, and just now. And my other questions? --2607:FEA8:875F:F91F:A1BD:A287:93D9:4291 (talk) 05:32, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- The tag was first removed by an IP address who geolocated the same area as you in April last year. GSS 💬 05:37, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- Quite possibly! I'm guessing it's a big area. It was not by me... was that your only objection? --2607:FEA8:875F:F91F:A1BD:A287:93D9:4291 (talk) 05:43, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello sir, Please guide me in creating this page. I might have added these sources which seems not so much relevant. The reason is that all these articles are taken from small movie news portals which does not have a quality contents. But, if you see the filmography and details. LTA interaction
Just a heads up on your recent reverts involving an IP on Operation Bluestar and Insurgency in Punjab. You were most likely dealing with the long-term abuser Hassan Guy, see the IP ranges listed on the LTA page. Any IP from the ranges listed at the LTA making contentious edits regarding Pakistan is most definitely him. Or more broadly any IP which geolocates to Oman, belongs to Omantel and makes contentious/disruptive edits is probably him. Best not to engage with these IPs (warn them etc.), per WP:DENY, and directly revert citing LTA and SPI them. Gotitbro (talk) 21:13, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

- Dear GSS, I am an Account Director with Adfactors PR, the agency which is handling the Road Safety World Series. As the PR team handling the event, it is our responsibility to see that all correct information gets published on the Wikipedeia page. Most information that you have edited on the page are wrong. The Road safety World Series is not organised by Road Safety Cell of Maharahstra. The Road Safety World Series is founded and conceptualized by Ravi Gaikwad, who is a senior member of the Road Safety Cell of Maharashtra. The tournament is organized by Professional management Group and the broadcast partner is Viacom 18's Colors Cineplex. Mahela Jayawardene, Russel Arnold and Ajit Agarkar are not members of the playing squads in the Road Safety World Series. The winning teams get four points and not two as has been shown in the page currently. As someone who is working on this account from the start I know what is right and wrong, so I had made all the necessary changes with proper citation to each and every edit that I had made. I request you please restore the correct edits, as done by me, for the benefit of all concerned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ajit bezbaruah (talk • contribs) 16:55, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

- Third opinion delivered. As far as the subject's notability is concerned, WP:NACTOR is key; it indicates that actors must have several significant roles, a large fan-base, or be consider as having done something noteworthy. The issue is that we need reliable sources to describe the subject as meeting any of these criteria. In light of this, i'm going to say I think the subject is not yet notable as they have only played major roles in two productions. I will note that Dalafrooz was praised for his performance(s), but I would look for a stronger indicator that the subject meets WP:NACTOR criteria, for example a book or scholarly publication that provides an in-depth overview of Dalafrooz's acting talents. It may take the subject starring in more roles before this issue is addressed. Best. SamHolt6 (talk) 22:59, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

From checking the original contributor User:Wefk423, we can see he was not compensated or related to the company. The edits from Jan 2020 fell under COI, and have been reverted but the current content is from the original creator. 221.124.42.92 (talk) 03:39, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

Reply to request for Paid or Employed Disclosure from JDodkins
Hello GSS, First I am not being paid nor employed to create this article.
I lived for many years in South Africa and still follow their more famous people. I found Ralf Schmitt's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and I was very impressed with it and made a point of following his progress, usually on the South African EMails that come periodically for ex-residents of SA. (They are very much promoting SA to the ex-pats living all over the world.).
When I saw his Choir had got to the finals on America's Got Talent I decided to try and find out some more about him and looked him up on the Internet in general and was surprised to find that he was not mentioned on Wikipedia.
Since I had written an article on Wikipedia before in 2008 (National Woman's Register) I decided to get write one on Ralf. I still have many friends in South Africa so contacted them to see where I could get information about him and by chance one of my good friends there is a teacher who taught at the school where Ralf's wife is head of music. (EMail (Redacted) if you would like to check this part of my story)
This put me in touch with his family and also with Ralf's father. Again a stroke of luck because I am now living in England and Ralf's father, who is German and so has rights to live in the UK, is actually retired to a cottage in Wales. He was one of my sources for the article. The Internet being the other main one.
This article was all my idea but I will admit that I did ask Ralf's father to OK my doing it with Ralf before I started. Ralf was delighted to have this done for him and so I continued, no Payment and no request from the Schmitt family to do it, but certainly their agreement for me to do it.
I have completed it and will be submitting it for Editor review as soon as you have read and replied to this with any guidance or direction that you think necessary.

- @Jdodkins: first of all, you are evading your block by not disclosing your previous account that was blocked. Your account was inactive since October 2008, and you suddenly started editing a few weeks after the submission at Draft:Ralf Schmitt was declined. You uploaded two images of Ralf as your own work so, can you explain how you own those images? GSS 💬 17:08, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
Second Reply to request for Paid or Employed Disclosure from JDodkins
Hello Gss, I freely admit I am not anything like experienced in Wikipedia and so have made several mistakes. I can only offer the following: 1. I edited in 2008 and have not done anything since - agreed. 2. I did not know that Ralf schmitts previous request had been denied. By some strange coincidence I happened to decide to write the article as I said in my previous comments - all my own decision. You may not believe this but I have Ralf's father's EMail address and his permission to give it to you to check my story with him if you so wish. I shall not enter it here as this may be a public-visible forum so will wait for your request if you so wish. 3. I then tried to log in to Wikipedia and my credentials worked without any error so I naturally assumed I was still able to work on it. 4. So I wrote the article, using the material I found on the Internet and material that was supplied to me by Ralf's father. 5. The two photographs were given to me by Ralf via his father and I was told they were mine to use as i wished so I naturally assumed that having been given them I could put them into the public domain. The first one I uploaded was not suitable so I didn't bother to declare its copyright. The second was uploaded and there was an auto request posted to declare its copyright status and since it was given to me I declared it public domain. If that is a mistake, please tell me how I should deal with photographs that were taken by the subject's wife and then given to me. 6. to reiterate, I decided to do this myself, with no request from Ralf Schmitt and certainly no payment in cash or in kind for doing it. 7. I created the article in my Sandbox because it appears to me that is where I should have done so.
However, if after all this you still wish to speedily delete my article, which as I have stated before was my decision, coincidentally soon after someone else had tried to create a similar article, although that one is very much less comprehensive that the one I have done, then please feel free to delete it. It will not be any problem for me as I was not getting any payment, But I really still believe that ralf schmitt is someone who should have an entry in the Encyclopedia. I shall contest the deletion for the reasons I have listed above. But if they are not sufficient, too bad. Ralf is the only one that will probably be disappointed.

Speedy deletion of NWR Page under construction
Hello gain GSS, (You will be heartily sick of me by the time this all gets resolved, Sorry!)
I now notice that the page set for speedy deletion is in fact my working page on NWR that I did in 2008. That page has been live since 2008 and the work in progress page in my area has been long superseded and probably should be deleted. So I have no problem there. I also notice that somehow there re two copies of my reply to the Ralf Schmitt page in your tlk area. Apologies for that I do not know how that happened.
I am quite happy for the working page of NWR to be deleted from my work area. I probably should have deleted it myself, but as I have said before, I am not an experienced editor so not deleting it in 2008 was another mistake on my part.
I hope the explanation of how the Ralf Schmitt page came about is enough to allow me to submit it for consideration.

Reply to Speedy deletion of NWR Page under construction
Hello Gss
Sorry for the non response, I have been responding to Jimfbleak and assumed he had taken over from you.
JimfBleak has deleted the old working NWR page. I told him that it was just left over from 2008 and should have been deleted long ago.
I have put a Pending note on the Photo that I assumed I could declare myself and sent an EMail vis Ralf's fathe to him asking im to send an Email to otrs using the standard form declaring that he is the owner and gives his permission etc.
The original photo I Uploaded is not being used and is marked for deletion on 10 April and I have not done anything about that as it is not required and should be deleted.
JimfBleak gave me a choice of COI declarations to make and I sent him back the following description of my interest, and asked for his advice on which of the three I should use.
I have a very distant connecting - I have a teacher friend who taught at the same school as Ralf Shchmitts Wife. I found this out when I mentioned to her that I was surprised that RS did not have a Wikipedia article despite becoming quite famous. (I had looked him up after watching another of his school choirs videos.) My friend then found out some details about RS for me including the fact that his father had retired to a little village in wales not only about two hours drive from where I live. And The fact is that RS father and I have become vague friends during my writing the article. So please, your opinion as to whether I should declare an interest with the statement or will this declaration be sufficient?
I shall try to answer any further questions sooner!

Previously listed at AfD here. Marginal on the notability scale, and I'm not a fan of the subject essentially writing his own article, but he doesn't seem to be puffing himself up too much, and the sources aren't terribly awful. It's a lot better than it was, anyway. --Pete (talk) 05:29, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for sharing, I wasn't aware of the previous AfD. I'm concerned about the current sources as none of them talks about the subject in detail. GSS 💬 05:45, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Humph! Looking at this diff, you plonked down the new notice just beneath the old one. I guess you just hit the "new section" button. Yeah, it's iffy. I've got no problem with a new AfD. In fact I threatened to go ahead with one until I noticed the previous one. I wasn't prepared to wade through a bunch of marginal sources, but I have no problem accepting that he has had an advocacy role in Australian internet, and if he's prepared to do the work and he doesn't make it too self-promotional, well, that's stuff I don't have to worry about. --Pete (talk) 06:02, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Catalina la Grande emerald
I think you're right about your PROD, I can't find anything in Spanish either. I think it's a conflation of the emerald that used to belong to Catherine the Great, and this emerald, which isn't related. If it isn't a hoax, then it's probably not notable due to a lack of reliable sources that say much beyond its size and carats, and should be deleted anyway. Richard3120 (talk) 17:29, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

- I agree, it's not notable - those emeralds found in 1999 were named Tena and Fura, not Catalina la Grande, and even in Spanish I can't find anything more than their extraction, and that they went on display in the capital... there's nothing to suggest they have had any history in the last 20 years. I wanted to let you know about what is happening with this user on fr.WP : Wikipédia:Faux-nez/Agence de comm tunisienne. To make it short, he has just been blocked indefinitely in the context of Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. As you can see on this fr.WP page, multiple accounts have been blocked previously but he has continued to create new accounts and most of his contributions are about Tunisian celebrities. As further explained here, the personal website of this person (named Chedi Amir) mentions he is a digital manager for various Tunisian celebrities and it is evident from looking at his contributions on en.WP that most of them are about the same people he works for.
I am not too much contributing on en.WP but hope you can bring this case up to the right forum so this can be addressed on this language version too.

Paid editing
Hi, GSS, and thank you for your email. I hope you don't mind continuing the conversation here, as it creates an opportunity for others to contribute to it.
I share your concerns about undisclosed paid editing, and about paid editors who avoid or skirt our TOU and policies. I accept that there may be a problem with editors who believe that they don't have to disclose accounts on sites such as Upwork if their profile is private. That is not the case, because the reason for that policy is to allow us to contact Upwork (or whichever site) and ask them to correct or remove profiles that are misleading or impersonations. We could not tolerate a situation where a paid editor could claim to be you or me without opportunity to correct that.
For now, I'm not sure that we need to change Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure #How to disclose:
Paid editors must also provide links on their Wikipedia user page to all active accounts at websites where they advertise paid Wikipedia-editing services. If an advertisement is removed, any corresponding links on the Wikipedia user page must remain visible for at least one week.
That links to meta:Linking to external advertising accounts, a cross-project policy that would require considerable effort to modify.
For cases where there is clear evidence that paid work was undertaken through a particular site without a corresponding link on their user page to their account on that site, I am willing to apply a block until such time as they comply with the policy. Hi GSS Sat Sri Akaal
I see you have been following this page quite a bit, questioning everything from the images I upload to every move on this page. I recognize there was a violation in Wiki policy for using a paid editor, who you have rightfully blocked. But now this article has been referenced properly through independent sources. If you take 5 minutes to do some research you will probably agree that it is ready for submission.
Instead of just declining, deleting, and questioning, I'm requesting you to provide some constructive feedback in place of Wikipedia boilerplate templates.
Thanking you in advance.

Clarifying my position on Wikipedia
Hello GSS, Thanks for your query. I'm new to Wikipedia. Along with the scientific and engineering articles, I have an interest in arts, culture, and history. Hitherto I have not done any paid work. All the articles I edited or created before was completely voluntary.
I want to work as a paid editor in the near future. How can I do this?
Should all articles be created as through the Articles for creation process or just the paid ones?
Thank you Ghoraghatalpha (talk) 18:37, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

Edit warring in Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. --Elephanthunter (talk) 15:49, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Elephanthunter: Very funny. The issue with the version you restore is clearly explained on the talk page and you must discuss before reverting my edits. GSS 💬 15:53, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- Elephanthunter, please observe WP:ONUS, especially the part that reads:
the onus to achieve consensus for inclusion is upon those seeking to include disputed content.
El_C 15:58, 1 May 2020 (UTC)- @El C: I agree with WP:ONUS. It specifically addresses the inclusion of new content, deferring to exclusion. It does not address modification of existing content. The right of GSS to revert modifications of content to a specific revision GSS agrees with is not granted under WP:ONUS. And in this nuanced discussion WP:ONUS should be weighed against WP:STONEWALLING, especially when one editor is mass-reverting multiple other editors. I am not saying that GSS's edit is entirely uncalled for, but it was clearly a blind revert that was not in line with the communicated process that was agreed to on the talk page. --Elephanthunter (talk) 17:11, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- Elephanthunter, well, you are introducing the additional content, so I think ONUS applies. Anyway, if you find you've reached an impasse on the article talk page, you can always make use of dispute resolution requests in order to bring more outside input into the dispute. Hope this help! El_C 17:14, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- @El C: Just for context, I did not originally introduce said new content. That was introduced by Sapedder. I was reverting (what I believed to be) a blind revert made by GSS, explained my reasoning, and placed a warning on his talk page. Hopefully discussions will continue on the talk page and WP:DRR will be unnecessary. --Elephanthunter (talk) 18:26, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- Elephanthunter, okay, but that doesn't make much of a difference in terms of the material being introduced vis-à-vis the revision history. The status quo ante version is the version that should be in place while a content dispute remains unresolved. El_C 19:39, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- @El C: I believe you made a good faith decision as an administrator to lock down the page to a reasonable point. My concern is that pages can not be in a status quo ante state indefinitely. And when arguments start to nitpick, they resemble Status Quo Stonewalling. In a very literal sense, every single edit of Sapedder was disputed. The bar for that user to make a single edit has been raised to a far higher standard than the standards of the page. It's incredibly frustrating for any user to have literally every single edit rolled back, especially when they've taken the time to properly source material. Sapadder attempting to engage in good-faith article improvement. We're all volunteers here, and it's best if we work together. --Elephanthunter (talk) 20:48, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- Elephanthunter, that's why you wait for something like a Request for comment to properly resolve, thereby codifying the consensus. El_C 21:00, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

- @Elephanthunter, FYI it was not at all a blind revert. I was reviewing each and every edit Sapedder made on 27th and reverted after he was finished. The entire version had multiple issues and Abecedare has explained it very well on the talk page. GSS 💬 17:19, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

Reverted edits: Please explain
GSS I have notices that you have restored an edit I reverted on: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lisa_Lisa&oldid=prev&diff=955316142
I reverted this edit because it was a unsourced claim relating to a living person. While potentially the edit was unlikely to be challenged- it was completely unsourced, likely self-published, and actually related to two living persons.
Could you please explain what about my revert was problematic? --Willthewanderer (talk) 08:01, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- The edit was originally reverted by Materialscientist (diff) minutes before you restored without providing any source so, is there a specific reason? Also, you were asked multiple times to fully comply with WP:PAID policy that state:
paid editors must also provide links on their Wikipedia user page to all active accounts at websites where they advertise, solicit or obtain paid Wikipedia-editing services
, but you have not yet taken any action, can I know why? GSS 💬 08:34, 7 May 2020 (UTC)- GSS It appears that this was simply an accident on my part- Another editor with the same intention as myself was using Huggle and deleted the content in question and I accidentally reverted their edit instead of the original one, thank you for the correction
- Regarding WP:PAID I am increasingly becoming frustrated that despite my best attempts and having declared on both the draft and my user page that I was making a commissioned page- you are still perusing me months later over non-existent content.
- The reason I have not responded is because I am not sure which authority you are assuming to make personal demands of me and am seeking the input of other experienced editors in regards to the matter. Willthewanderer (talk) 10:43, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Tidying page: Ken Banks
Hi GSS. Firstly, thanks for everything you do for Wikipedia. It's a tremendous resource which I gladly support.
A while back I was approached by an editor who offered to update my page for me. I'd never considered this before but was told it would all be done properly, as per guidelines. Since then things have got messy and you recently reverted some changes and added the warning.
My page is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Banks
I'm reaching out to ask your advice on how I can get this page tidied up. You have a lot of experience and it seemed to make sense to reach out to you.
I hope you can help! Thanks, Ken

Hello, you recently stated on my talk page that I might be paid to edit. I want to say that I'm not paid to edit. I promise you and the entire Wikipedia community that I'm not paid. Can you tell me how to clear all of those accusations?
Respectfully, Thanoscar21 (talk) 14:50, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Thanoscar21: Can you please explain what made you create Draft:Renderforest? GSS 💬 15:19, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- @GSS: This is gonna sound silly, but I've always wanted to create a Wikipedia page since my childhood, so I started checking literally everything I use in daily life on Wikipedia. This is also the reason why all the other drafts I created seems like I'd be paid to edit. I use Renderforest in real life, so as soon as I saw that it didn't have a Wikipedia article, I created a draft. I have not been paid to edit, I never have been paid to edit, and I will never be paid to edit. I hope this clears up any confusion. Respectfully, Thanoscar21 (talk) 15:25, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

I'm confused when you said there is not enough coverage on the company.
I'm trying to keep it simple without trying to hard-sell the company or blatant advertisement.
I can easily add more coverage if that is required.
Also, it is unfair to expect only those covered by the NY Times can be added to Wikipedia.
I'm using the following pages as reference. If you said there is not enough coverage. These pages also don't have enough coverage.
Lovense, Petcube, Nomiku
The company created the world's first smart vibrator. The earliest coverage from 2012. There is no other vibrator can be controlled by smartphone before Vibease. TechInAsia is prominent tech news in Asia.

- Oh. Noticed there was something about UPE in your comment. Didn't know that abbreviation. But no, I don't have any connection to Gorm. I have just been watching the Danish TV show Maddysten, and tried to look him up on Wikipedia. He was not there, so I made a Danish page about him and the show, and thought it would also be relevant in the English Wikipedia. And yes, I have been doing some paid editing, but all has been declared. Anders Kaas Petersen (talk) 14:23, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
In future when you move a page from the main article space to Draft space, please drop a note on the creator's talk page with a link top the moved page and a brief indication of the reason. This avoids other volunteers having to answer "where did my page go" questions so often, and reduces frustration for the editors involved. Thanks. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 20:23, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
