[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page East Orange, New Jersey has been reverted.
Your edit here to East Orange, New Jersey was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links in references which are discouraged per our reliable sources guideline (see also this list of frequently-discussed sources). Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Nathaniel Macon's views were common for Southern leaders at the time; a discussion of those views is most appropriate in the Nathaniel Macon, not peppered around every place he is mentioned. - Thank you for reaching out. As you mentioned, it was common for politicians in the American South to view slavery as a necessary and as such, would be of no surprise to readers to that a Southern man would see slavery in a positive light. As a Macon County Illinois resident my entire adult life, I was unaware that Nathaniel Macon was a southern man and not a resident of Illinois. My edits were to mainly inform and use of language used on Nathaniel Macon's main wiki page with a properly cited source. As such, would you suggest an edit to my changes? Or if the subject of your response "RIGHTGREATWRONGS" is any indication, it appears you've taken great offense to my changes? Allan Crawshank (talk) 21:00, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- If you canvass those articles again, you will be blocked from editing. It's not appropriate to add commentary like that to every mention of an individual (see WP:SYNTH; that discussion belongs in articles about the individual or administrations/actions. OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:34, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you again for the follow up. Again, to reference the original response - my intent was not to right a great wrong, which is referred to as “riding the crest of the wave” - my intent was to update with citation to a verifiable article, and using direct verbiage from the main page to apply throughout might. In further research, an edit to the pages would seem appropriate - with less commentary and direct citation to historical articles - that would balance the various pages to a majority view that anti-abolitionists, although they fought in the Revolutionary War and served in federal government, were slave owners and some voted against the Missouri compromise. - My intent is to warn you that any further WP:SYNTH commentary about Macon every time he is mentioned without any other relevant context will result in the loss of your editing privleges. OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:55, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
