hyphen in first two words
[edit]I don't think that "calf-intestinal" is correct for this name. This is "intestinal alkaline phophatase" that is made from calf. Compare to "bovine intestinal alkaline phosphatase" or "dog intestinal alkaline phosphatase". I barely see any source that uses a hyphen in any of these names. --Enric Naval (talk) 23:54, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Why don't you look at scholarly sources? Many use the hyphen there to clarify the intended meaning. Dicklyon (talk) 00:42, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- It is confusing and unkind to readers, especially those who don't read of this item on a daily basis, not to hyphenate according to widely accepted punctuation rules, including those of WP. Tony (talk) 15:14, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon,
I see that about 3 out of 10 use a hyphen. My bad for not spotting that there were so many of them.Ah, there are only 11 in the first 100 results, the first pages have a higher proportion of hyphenated form. - @Tony, I wanted to make sure that this punctuation was correct, since so many RS didn't use it. -Enric Naval (talk) 14:48, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Editing this article
[edit]As a scientist who has regularly used CIP, I thought I could improve this article. However, all my revisions have immediately been reverted. I'm new to Wikipedia and not sure what I've done wrong. I didn't mean to cause any offense, so would be grateful if it could be explained to me what I should do to edit this page.Jessthecat2610 (talk) 15:27, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- What improvement are you trying to make to the article? I notice here that you removed quite a bit of content and all the references. That is why the Bot reverted your edit.--Pontificalibus (talk) 15:40, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- I thought the content was repetitive and unclear and the references not all that useful. I realise now that I shouldn't have taken the references away and see now why it was automatically reverted. However, I then went back to it and wrote some sentences more clearly, added useful wikilinks, more detail and a couple of new references. Then it was immediately reverted back again by DerBorg. I'm not clear if that is a real user or if that is an automatic response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jessthecat2610 (talk • contribs) 22:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- DerBorg is a real person, it appears they got a bit carried away after seeing that your initial edits were automatically reverted. I see now you've made further edits without a problem, so please continue to improve the article! --Pontificalibus (talk) 10:32, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
