Essex, County of London

[edit]

Even though LCC made some of the Becontree Estate, it is in the town of Dagenham; during that time of creation, it was in Essex. Mentioning "of" rather than "by" makes it look like it was of the LCC when really it was *made by* that council. I reverted it back so we can discuss. @ShawarmaFan07 The Becontree Estate is one of the London County Council cottage estates, which, as I mentioned in [1], were built across administrative counties bordering the old administrative 'County of London', within the general London area. They were built and funded by the London County Council. PlatinumClipper96 (talk) 14:14, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, "built and funded by", but not part "of". It certainly confuses readers; they might think it joined the County of London, when really Becontree Estate remained in Essex in the making of that residential area. Also, please could you remake the link so that the respective cited source can be clickable. Not sure why you think the original wording "confuses readers". Again, it was a London County Council estate. Nothing in the original wording implies that it was within the County of London. PlatinumClipper96 (talk) 14:30, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because you said "of". It makes them think Becontree was part "of" the County of London when really it remained in Essex before transferring to Greater London ShawarmaFan07 (talk) 14:51, 24 November 2024 (UTC)(Nota bene Blocked sockpuppet of LDas12345, see investigation)[reply]
The estate London County Council cottage estates were indeed "of the London County Council". PlatinumClipper96 (talk) 14:54, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But that means the Becontree area has part of the County of London when it started off as being in Essex! ShawarmaFan07 (talk) 14:56, 24 November 2024 (UTC)(Nota bene Blocked sockpuppet of LDas12345, see investigation)[reply]
No, it doesn't. The London County Council was a local government body. The County of London was a geographical area. PlatinumClipper96 (talk) 14:59, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
