Kuala Lumpur Summit or KL Summit is an international platform for Muslim leaders, intellectuals and scholars from around the world to discuss and exchange ideas about the issues revolving in the Muslim world. In November 2014, when the first Summit was held in Kuala Lumpur, great success was achieved in bringing together renowned Muslim figures. Between them, new and valuable solutions for the problems facing the Muslim world were introduced and discussed.

KL Summit is an international platform for dialogue, bringing together Muslim leaders, thinkers, intellectuals and scholars finding the best dynamic and action driven solutions for the problems faced by Muslim Ummah guided by a comprehensive contemporary understanding towards the achievement of the highest values of Islam and the sovereignty of Ummah.

== Mission ==

KL Summit mission ia to contribute to identify and solve the problems afflicting the Muslim world. KL Summit promotes the interchange of ideas, discourse, policy making, and action driven recommendations. In a world where borders are porous, our challenges and solutions are also interlinked. KL Summit encourages hybrid coalitions by gathering old and new actors from Muslim world; states and international organisations, as well as NGOs, companies, foundations, philanthropic organisations, development agencies, trade unions, think tanks, universities, and civil society at large.

Chairman : The Honourable Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad is the Prime Minister of Malaysia having led the Pakatan Harapan coalition to victory in the General Election of May 2018. This is Dr. Mahathir second tenure as Prime Minister, having served earlier from 1981 – 2003.

Deputy Chairman ( East, South and Southeast Asia region) : Tun Ahmad Sarji bin Abdul Hamid is a former 9th Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia, having served from 1 February 1990 to 16 September 1996. He is currently Chairman of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM).

Deputy Chairman (Qatar) : Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, is the mother of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad alThani, The Amir of the State of Qatar. She serves as the chairman of the Qatar Foundation and the chairperson of the Arab Democracy Foundation. . She initiated the World Innovation Summit for Health . She has been named as one of Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women.

Deputy Chairman (Prominent Scholar) : Allamah Prof. Dr Syeikh Muhammed al Hassan al Dadew al Shanqiti is a jurist, thinker and a prominent scholar from Mauritania. He is President of Abdullah Yassin University in Nouakchott. He also serves as chairman for the Institute of Takwin Ulama’ in Mauritania and is also a member of the Board of Trustees for World Union of Muslim Scholars.

Deputy Chairman (Europe, America, Russia and Turkey region) : Berat Albayrak is the Minister of Finance and Treasury of Turkey and a Member of the Grand National Assembly.

Deputy Chairman (Malaysia) : Dato' Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali is Malaysian Minister of Economic Affair. He was also the former Chief Minister of the State of Selangor and a member of the Malaysian Parliament.

Secretary : Dr. Abderazzak Makri is an Algerian politician and thinker and academician. He is the former Deputy Speaker for the People’s National Assembly Algeria. He serves as the President of Mouvement de la société pour la paix (MSP) Algérien. He is the chairman of the elBasira Advisory Institute and president of Jil Tarjih Academy.

Secretary : Tan Sri Samsudin Osman is the former Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia from 1 February 2001 to 2 September 2006. He is currently Chairman of the Employees Provident Fund

The 2019 Kuala Lumpur Summit (KL Summit) held from Dec 18 to 21 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, has received an encouraging response, with 52 countries confirming their attendance, and more than 400 participants, including more than 250 from abroad.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani join Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the summit.
