Aniruddhacharya (born Aniruddh Ram Tiwari; 27 September 1989), also known as Das Aniruddh,[2] is an Indian spiritual leader and story-teller. Additionally, he is the founder of Gauri Gopal Ashram in Vrindavan.[3][4]
Early life and family
Aniruddhacharya was born on 27 September 1989, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. His father was a Hindu priest.[4][5] He is married to Arti Tiwari, with whom he has two sons.[1]
Career
Aniruddhacharya is a storyteller and spiritual teacher.[6][7] In addition to this, he is the founder of Gouri Gopal Ashram, which includes an old age home, cow shelter and provides education to the needy.[8]
Owing to his popularity, he appeared as a guest on Laughter Chefs – Unlimited Entertainment.[9] Later, Aniruddhacharya was offered to participate in Bigg Boss 18, but he declined the offer and added that the show does not match his "culture and values".[10][11] Although, he appeared as the guest during the grand premiere of the show.[12]
Awards and recognition
- World Book of Records London by British Parliament in 2023 - for having highest YouTube subscribers of Shrimad Bhagwat Katha and other spiritual disclosers till September 2023.[13][14]
- Aniruddhacharya earned a doctorate from an American university in 2024.[8]
Reception
Aniruddhacharya has also attracted controversies for his statements.[15][16][17] Several memes have been created on social media based on his statements.[18][19] Aniruddhacharya became an internet meme sensation through humorous takes on everyday life, particularly food. Memes such as referring to biscuits as "vis-ki-kit" (a pack of poison) or claiming that pizza's cheese is glue, have gone viral, cementing his status as a beloved online figure. He has been criticised by the Indian audience about the degradation of women in his speech, wherein he once claimed that women should not sleep backward as their breasts will become impure. His approach to handling criticism also contributes to his popularity. Instead of reacting negatively, he diffuses tension with humour, offering witty retorts to insults, further endearing him to his followers. [20]
