Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Fugging. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}).

Requested move 27 November 2020

– Fucking, Austria has decided to officially change its name as of 1 January 2021 to Fugging. This means that there will now be two places in Austria named Fugging which were previously named Fucking, one in Lower Austria and one in Upper Austria. The proposal is to move the current Fugging article, and defer the move of Fucking, Austria to Fugging, Upper Austria until 1 January 2021. On 1 January 2021, Fugging is to be converted to a dab page, and Fucking, Austria redirected to the new Fugging dab page. Mjroots (talk) 10:33, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @The C of E: - my reasoning for moving Fugging immediately the RM closes (subject to consensus) is that it gives time to sort out all the incoming links to Fugging before that page is turned into a dab. Then in January we can sort out the links to the newly-renamed Fugging. There won't be any confusion that way. Mjroots (talk) 17:24, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support proposal. Doing the first move immediately helps move the few links that exist. (However, the eventual target of the Fucking, Austria redirect may still be up for discussion.) O.N.R. (talk) 18:38, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support moving articles but I am leaning towards moving the articles closer to the official name change date such as around the last week of December.--CyclonicallyDeranged (talk) 19:04, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 03:46, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, sensible. Also WP:SNOW. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 06:50, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I guess I have to support this Fucking move, unless we can persuade the Fucking village to keep its Fucking name. /Jiiimbooh » TALKCONTRIBS 09:16, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support in full. Nice to see this squared away pretty quickly. -BRAINULATOR9 (TALK) 13:02, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wait It doesn't mean they've decided to change it in 2021 that we should rename the article now. Per WP:MPN "Per Wikipedia's naming policy, our choice of name does not automatically follow the official or local form, but depends on that change having become predominant in common global usage. That can be assessed by reviewing up-to-date references to the place in a modern context in reliable, authoritative sources such as news media, other encyclopedias, atlases and academic publications as well as the official publications of major English-speaking countries, for example the CIA World Factbook." We're not allowed to change it for now until first of all 2021 and what sources say. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 15:02, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • While you are technically correct, I think that policy was written with big cities and countries in mind. A big city might have different names in different languages. The official name could be changed for political reasons, and those not agreeing with the politics might not accept the change. Such factors aren't at play here. In this case I think waiting would be erring on the side of caution (to see if the name sticks) to an exaggerated level, and it would only make Wikipedia seem out of date. /Jiiimbooh » TALKCONTRIBS 17:41, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • Hardly as it would only make Wikipedia look out of date if we didn't change it after the change. In the meantime for the rest of the year, the Fucking village is Fucking and we should keep it at that title until the official changeover. Just like we kept the UK on EU maps until the UK officially left. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 17:58, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
        • Sorry if I was unclear. The nomination suggests moving the page on Jan 1st and that's what I'm supporting. I interpret CPA-5's comment to mean that we should wait longer to see what other sources are using, and that's what I think is unnecessary. There are already sources in the article about the name change. /Jiiimbooh » TALKCONTRIBS 20:13, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support 1st but wait (which is what the nom says anyway) until the rename of Fucking, Upper Austria actually happens and WP:NAMECHANGES is satisfied (I think it will likely be given the publicity of the name but we'll just have to see per WP:CRYSTAL). Note that on the German Wikipedia Fugging is a DAB but the Upper Austria one is still as is, don't wait until January to convert "Fugging" to a DAB, do it straight away since there's no need to have the base name redirecting here if readers are looking for the other one with this term.
