Please stop adding nonsensical templates to articles
Hello. Please stop adding absurd copyvio and notability templates to articles. Articles clearly don't violate copyright when some internet forum quotes Wikipedia, and topics clearly don't indicate lack of notability when the article includes plenty of third-party sources. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you.—J. M. - Ohh, but those articles are copy pasted from somewhere else that's why i added the templates. that can't be nonsensical. Tictictoc (talk) 04:43, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- You added {{db-animal}} to Sandeep Roy. Mr. Roy is probably not notable, but why on earth are you calling him an animal? And why did you move that page? It's obviously going to be deleted, creating a useless redirect that'll also be deleted is.. useless. Your {{copypaste}} templates on Duo LNB and Versatile Video Coding were obviously wrong. If you won't acknowledge this I'll have to report this. Competence is required. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 05:50, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- No, they are not. Please at least read what I wrote. And please do not add templates to articles until you are able to understand what you are doing. Thanks.—J. M. (talk) 05:51, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- Off-course not, i added A7 for biographies. If it appears for animal it might be my mistake of typos. I apologies for this. I added "Copypaste" tag on the article Duo LNB and Versatile Video Coding on the basis of this and this report. If these reports are wrong then Yes, i accept my mistake and you can take action for my disruptive editing. I know Wikipedia Guidelines are strict. But I didn't do all this intentionally. Thank You. - Looked at your other contributions and found more problems. Made a report to sort things out. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 06:40, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- Common sense always takes precedence over any automatic tool you may be using. You cannot use the tools without actually understanding what they do. The automatic tool does not say that there is any copyright violation, it only shows portions of text that are similar or identical. But you always have to use your judgement to interpret it. Always read the actual page to see if the copyvio report has any merit. For example, when you actually read the forum thread you mentioned, it takes about two seconds to realize that the copyvio report is completely bogus. It's just an internet discussion forum that quotes an excerpt from Wikipedia, that's why the text is identical. Never add copyvio tags without actually reading and understanding the pages you are referring to. Furthermore, when you see that an article includes plenty of links to reliable sources that cover the topic in detail, you can be sure that the topic is notable and thus adding a notability tag does not make any sense either.—J. As an admin, I am now closing the ANI thread. Your apology above gives me hope that you will take the above requests by J. M. and Alexis Jazz to change your behavior to heart and no further admin interaction will be required. Note to others reading this: Please let me know if Tictictoc's behavior isn't changing, and I will consider a block or other appropriate admin measures. ◅ Sebastian 08:46, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thank You and i really appreciate your decision. You will not see any Wiki Guideline broken by me in Future. Tictictoc (talk) 09:54, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- You're welcome. The decision was not just for your sake, but for the benefit of Wikipedia, because nobody doubted that you mean well. There's no need for such a general promise, though. Nobody is perfect, and if you don't dramatize a single mistake, it's easier to recognize it and admit it to the one who made you aware of it, before they feel the need to bring it to the admins' attention. ◅ Sebastian 10:12, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
