Dayrabun (also Derabun, Template:Lang-syr, Template:Lang-ar) is an Iraqi town located in the Zakho District of the Dohuk Governorate in northern Iraq. The town lies just 7 km to the south east of the tripoint of Iraq, Syria and Turkey. Dayrabun is inhabited by Assyrians who mainly belong to the Chaldean Catholic Church and also by Yazidis of the Haweri tribe.[2]
Etymology
The name of the town in Syriac means 'Monastery of the Priest" or literally; Monastery of our father. The name Dayr Abun is in the construct state.
