"last surviving Munchkin cast member"?
According to the Wikipedia Munchkin page, there is a woman named Priscilla Ann Montgomery Clark who was a child actress (not a dwarf) who played a munchkin and is still living. So the line referring to Jerry Maren as "the only confirmed surviving dwarf munchkin" is correct, since Mrs. Clark is not a dwarf. However, the "last surviving Munchkin cast member" is not correct, since Mrs. Clark was a munchkin cast member and is still alive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bugsguy (talk • contribs) 10:11, January 31, 2014 (UTC-5)
TO be clear he should be listed as the last surviving adult dwarf munchkin as he was over 18 years old when he was in the Wizard of OZ.
Death rumors
This page might need protection, the only link to his "death" is a link to someone's facebook on a wikipedia blacklisted website. I have the feeling if he really DID die two days ago then it would have been picked up by the media by now. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 04:11, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
I beg to differ. I don't think page protection is necessary. A 96 year-old with pancreatic cancer? Chances are slim that he's still alive, although I do agree on a "wait and see" approach... at least until other sources can confirm. 4.16.28.20 (talk) 06:53, 1 March 2016 (UTC) Darwin
- I agree with the chances but now the examiner has backtracked their story of his death claim. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 12:38, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
Still alive, according to TMZ. 76.79.74.234 (talk) 20:29, 1 March 2016 (UTC) QuanYin
- Locking the page was not necessary. Really. He's not Ronald Reagan.

Shep Houghton
Maren is not the only person from the film to survive. Shep Houghton is still alive and is NOT one of the child munchkins still alive. He was born on June 4, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was 25 years old at the time of the movie's release. Please change this. The last time I checked, 25 is considered an adult and is the age for most people to have their brain development completed. Anyways, he played and Ozmite/Lollipop Guard. He retired in 1976.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6001:E790:5800:6507:69A7:5F85:45E9 (talk) 20:44, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

I suggest we change "- 30 May 2018" to "May 2018" as there is no source to suggest that exact date. Walle637 (talk) 20:51, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

The end of this article says other living cast members cannot be considered munchkins because they are dwarfs and not "midgets". Not only is this inaccurate according to the cited NYTs article (they were children of average size), but the term "midget" is an offensive slur. See exact text below.
"A small number of anonymous female extras are also reported to survive; as they were technically dwarves and not midgets, they are not counted as Munchkins.[1]" 107.242.117.11 (talk) 01:12, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
- Done modified the statement to refer to the extras as children, which is correct. Thank you for highlighting this issue. AlexEng(TALK) 22:12, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

change the last surviving to one of the last surviving Joan Kenmore, 86, is a surviving munchkin and a resident of Dana Point, CA https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0447815/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t60 107.77.208.80 (talk) 20:57, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
- Not done Kenmore would have been eight years old at the time of the release, and therefore qualifies as one of the child extras hired to fill out the cast, rather than an original Munchkin actor. See the bottom of the page. AlexEng(TALK) 22:14, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
Wrong age
http://www.latimes.com/sns-bc-us--obit-last-munchkin-20180606-story.html This article along with others say Maren was born in 1919. BTW what is so controversial about this article that it is extended confirmed protection? Vaalpak (talk) 23:23, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
