Hey there, in future when you add AfDs to Deletion sorting pages as you did with Michael Knaap & Chloe Bruce (martial artist) to the Martial arts deletion sorting page please ensure you tag the AfD with the relevant delsort tag, in this case {{subst:delsort|Martial arts|~~~~}} this informs users it has already been added to delsort page & ensures its not added multiple times. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 00:06, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Donald Braithwaite

I'm disappointed with your conclusion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Donald Braithwaite that a "no consensus" would be a "win/win". While I agree with the comments that say neither side is likely to convince the other, it seems like you're willing to compromise your stance just to say you're not wrong. I apologize if I'm misinterpreting your statement. As the keep claims have gotten more extreme--competing in an international event in any sport is sufficient to show notability--I feel loath to give in to their views. Papaursa (talk) 04:34, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just reread what I wrote and you're right--I do sound like a ****. I doubt that will be the last time.Mdtemp (talk) 19:15, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

While it’s easy for inclusionist types like myself to bemoan what we see as exclusionism, possibly even deletionism (gasp!), one can’t deny that without such countervailing force the wiki would be teeming with garbage. Jigo-Tensin-Ryu Jujutsu and Dong Jin Kim

Mdtemp, I appreciate all comments to the pages we have created but please do just that, make suggestions and please do not automatically put it up for deletion. These two pages are relation to a martial art affiliated with the National Defense University. Both pages have are of importance to the NDU and are important in martial arts. Don Jin Kim was national champion in Kendo and the style of Jujutsu is taught by the NDU as part of a U.S. military curriculum. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emery80 (talkcontribs) 03:57, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't automatically put anything up for deletion. However, if lacks good sources and has questionable notability then AfD is reasonable. Teaching a class at the NDU does not show notability and please don't removed AfD notices from articles.Mdtemp (talk) 19:45, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. Want to make it better and taking the suggestions to heart. Would like too keep both, but it does not look like that will happen.

Atemi Ju-Jitsu

What's your thoughts on Atemi Ju-Jitsu? I want to be respectful to other MAs, but I am not sold on this one. I am of the understanding their lineage is in question (I have seen this school of Jujitsu brought up on other sites). Further, there references dont add up and its not sourced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MartialArtsLEO (talkcontribs) 05:25, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I personally know nothing about this style. I took a quick look at the references and, since they're in French, can not make a quick decision on it. You might try posting your question at WT:WPMA to see what others have to say. Sometimes, but not always, you'll get additional responses. If that fails you can always put it up for AfD, but that's obviously more of a last resort (or if you have serious reservations about the notability and sources).Mdtemp (talk) 19:50, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Did it, thanks. Message me if you run into anything else Kendo or any other Japanese MA.MartialArtsLEO (talk) 03:38, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Me tactful - not so sure about that. Let's just see how the articles develop with the tags in place. Cheers Peter Rehse (talk) 20:57, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kenjiro Yoshigasaki

I have added new footnotes and inline references. How we can close the AfD discussion to merge all(Ki No Kenkyukai Int Assc, Kenkodo) articles to Kenjiro Yoshigasaki? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiaikido1 (talkcontribs) 23:09, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Any opinion. I personally want to fry this but I already submitted two of the original authors articles for AfD (labelled one a hoax).Peter Rehse (talk) 10:56, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've already sent it to AfD. I wouldn't be too upset since the author (Caporook) is a promoter with a COI. Mdtemp (talk) 14:01, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Larry Hartsell deletion...

I saw one of the discussions that states that he is not a notable author of merit; however, this 4 books are, in many peoples opinion, required reading on the subject of Jeet Kune Do and integrating grappling in all ranges. Specifically, the book title Entering to Trapping to Grappling is a book that ALL martial artists should own. His book on conditioning should be read by all MMA coaches, regardless of preferred style. As the "premier JKD fighter", he also holds a distinction that no other Jeet Kune Do practitioner (of direct Bruce Lee lineage) can hold. I see that Erik Paulson has a page; Larry Hartsell is one of his primary instructors, whom Erik lived with as a young adult for many years. He is also one of three instructors who can be credited with martial arts training in the NFL that, if not directly related, definitely occurred during the prime period of the 49ers and Cowboys. Again, he is also one of the primary martial arts instructors to Dallas Cowboy's HOF Randy White... Chai Sirisute, Dan Inosanto, etc. all still have pages; one notable difference between Dan Inosanto (regarding being an author of note) is that most of his books are out-of-print... Larry Hartsell's books continue to be in print. (I mention Dan Inosanto since Larry Hartsell and he were best friends for over 40 years, since their days with Ed Parker and the transition to Bruce Lee.) I really am dumbfounded as to why his page would have been removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Corygenesmith (talkcontribs) 04:11, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It was removed because there was a consensus that he didn't meet any of WP's notability standards. Notability is not inherited from his instructors (or students), he was not deemed a notable author, and there was a lack of significant independent coverage of him. Dustin Jacoby

He fought third fight for top tier MMA promotion, so article should be restored. Master Sun Tzu (talk) 08:53, 12 Septembre 2014 (UTC)

If he has 3 top tier fights, I have no objection to his article. When and where was his third top tier fight?Mdtemp (talk) 18:09, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tagged articles about fencers

Hi, I have questions regarding your notability and added refs tags on recent fencing articles I created. Take Antonio Leal for instance. There are no specific notability guidelines for fencing on en: that I know of, but Leal won the gold medal in a zonal championship for his discipline. As for references, there are three footnotes for two sentences. What are the additional references required? Are references needed in the infobox? Jastrow (Λέγετε) 22:10, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the notability tag. As I said in my comment, it would be nice to see some sources in English (but not mandatory) since this is the English Wikipedia.Mdtemp (talk) 18:10, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

I was just at the Karalina Tjapko AfD and saw RonSigPi's comment on civility. I don't think you were uncivil, but there was a definite edge to your writing. However, you definitely were uncivil at the Mickey Goodwin AfD. Dave Dial may have started it with his opening comment about bad faith, but you both continued on a downward trajectory from there. Mind you, I think you made some valid points, but the atmosphere was so nasty I didn't even post on that one. You can tell me to blow it out my ear, but I don't want to see an editor with whom I frequently agree get censured. When WP gets too stressful for me, I sometimes just take a WP break. This is supposed to be enjoyable, not stressful. Papaursa (talk) 21:25, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion please. I got a bit of pushback when I dared put notability tags. Suggestion was that TUF non-final fights counted as top tier.Peter Rehse (talk) 15:36, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Previous discussions made it clear that the only TUF fights that count are the ones in the finale. She not only deserves notability tags but also an AfD one.Mdtemp (talk) 15:43, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That was my thought also. I tend to leave borderline cases alone but this was 1 or three and a loss at that. Clincher for me was that it wasn't really the final but the two losing semi-finalists and she lost.Peter Rehse (talk) 15:48, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are you going to put it up for AfD or should I?Mdtemp (talk) 15:49, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan Martin (boxer)

Hello Mdtemp, I'm a fairly new user here. Still learning allot, but enjoying the space. I see you have moved Ryan Martin (boxer) page to AFD, after several discussions it's arguably been determined that the subject doesn't meet NBOX. However, I believe NBOX should be revised, because the subject Ryan meets that criteria. With that being said how does one even begin to have input on the revision of that? (age shouldn't disqualify someone from meeting notability).

Also, the subjects amateur career (which spaned 11 years, 12 National titles and over 200 victories) is what got him to his success now. He was recruited by the sports biggest promoters, hence signing with entertainment powerhouse Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. Being labeled a Blue-Chip prospect, by various media outlets and fighting on major promotional cards including, but not limited to: ESPN, HBO, and Showtime. Keep in mind, the media has been following and documenting this kids success since he was 8 years old, not to mention being featured as a new Face in Ring Magazine/TV (The Bible of Boxing). this past year. The subjects page should remain active as it's meets notability WP:N, WP:V and has reliable sources WP:RS. can you please assist me in bringing back the page and helping me with these validations? I clearly understand that junior events don't make someone automatically notable. In Ryans case his success hasn't stopped there. Your review in this matter is greatly appreciated.C.dunkin (talk) 03:45, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Articles

I noticed you have nominated multiple articles that I have put up for deletion. All of them pass MANOTE [3] by either being (1) Subject of an independent article/documentary, (2) Olympic participant or world champion of a significant international organization; - more than a few dozen competitors, (3) Repeated medalist (as an adult black belt, i.e. 1st dan equivalent or higher rank) in another significant event; - (e.g. competitors from multiple nations or significant national tournament, not an internal school champion). The high ranking rationale that you stated for deletion for a number of them applies when ... "Only achievement seems to be that they teach an art (or founded a non-notable art); perhaps also avoid even mentioning them in the article of the art unless they are one of a few high-ranked artists in an art that has thousands of students." Judo has hundred of thousand practitioners. 19:45, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Whoever you are--none of these have any indication of competing at the highest level. Two person senior citizen divisions are not considered the highest level.Mdtemp (talk) 19:52, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up

The question is who is the sock and who is the master? Not worried just seriously pissed with the behaviour.Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/PRehsePeter Rehse (talk) 12:32, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@PRehse: The original tag was user:Mtking? It appears to be a dead account at the least...with the name "temp" in it. Not sure how to proceed or where / how to report this further ... as it was odd that the user in question removed the tag that would have attracted the notice of the sock puppet patrol -- IamM1rv (talk) 15:31, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
