The national Flag of Padania is the official flag of the non-recognized country called Padania, symbol of the Padanian nationalism. It's formed by a green "Sun of the Alps" in the center on a white background.

Meaning

The "Sun of the Alps", also called Flower of Life, is a recurrent symbol which can be found in the italian's art and culture since VII century BC (Civitella Paganico).[1]

History

The flag was created in the 1990s, following the formation of the italian political party called Lega Nord. It became the official flag the Republic of Padania on September 15th 1996, the day of the declaration of independence proclaimed by leader Umberto Bossi in Venice.[2][3]

In its previous version, there were depicted a red St George's Cross and a Sun of the Alps.[2] The cross represented the Northen Italy's cities.
