The World Muslimah Beauty, commonly known as Miss World Muslimah,[1] or World Muslimah[2][3]</ref> is an annual global charity event, part of World Muslimah Foundation programs to benefit hunger relief, war conflict and natural disaster.[4] The World Muslimah Pageant formed in 1 August 2011 while the first pageant contest held later in the same year.
According to the pageant's founder Eka Shanti, "Muslimah World is a beauty pageant, but the requirements are very different from Miss World,“You have to be pious, be a positive role model and show how you balance a life of spirituality in today’s modernized world. We don’t just want to shout ‘no’ to Miss World. “We’d rather show our children they have choices. Do you want to be like the women in Miss World? Or like those in Muslimah World?"[5]
World Muslimah Foundation
World Muslimah Foundation (WMF) is a Muslim women’s organization that aims to provide a conceptual model and specific techniques that guide the sisterhood among Muslim become more communicativee and fun, in ways that will enhance understanding of Islam and encourage members to be confident to find their essential skills, while the foundation is the sole authority to organize the pageant contest.
Founded in 2011, WMF aims to reduce poverty, focusing primarily on the core issues of educations, empowerment & appreciation.
The Foundation provides a range of capacity building, life skill training, entrepreneurship programs, charity & awareness which dedicated to five categories of Muslim women who live in remote areas, orphanage houses, disasters land field and conflict victims.
They are:
- Muslim women with less education access
- Muslim women who play significant role to be a family backbone mother
- Muslim women with high potency, talent but less opportunity
- Abandoned Muslim women
- Refugee Muslim women
In cooperation with Global Islamic Philanthropy- an association of Muslim based foundations in Indonesia- WM-Foundation will distribute the donation to reach domestic and international humanitarian zone such as Rohingya, Palestine, Syria and Somalia.[6]
The pageant
The contest was first held in 2011 and was then only open to Indonesians but it proved so popular that it was opened up to international entrants. Contestants are required to wear hijab in their daily lives. The contestants show off Islamic fashion trends and also take part in other activities, such as reciting the Quran, aimed at demonstrating their piety as well: they are judged on their views on Islam and the modern world.[7][8]
Selection criteria
Competency evaluation program involving sisters in academics, religious knowledge, information technology and social community.

Rewards
The winner is crowned on finale as well presenting her the winner trophy. Also prizes have been given since 2011, among others purporting Pilgrimage trip, a trip to Paris, Turkey, Jeddah, Europe, Malaysia, and India and Islamic funds to support economic development.
