The 2013 World Men's Handball Championship is the 23rd World Men's Handball Championship, an international handball tournament that takes place in Spain from 11 to 27 January 2013. Norway was the other applicant for this championship.

This is the first time the country hosts the competition. Spain became the twelfth country to host the World Men's Handball Championship.

Venues

Games played in Madrid were going to be played in Madrid Arena. On November 1, 2012 five girls died in a human stampede during a Halloween party, so the venue was closed for the matches because of the judicial investigation taking place at the time. The IHF changed the location of games in Madrid to Caja Mágica.[1]
