Rainer Hasler (born 2 July 1958) is a former Liechtenstein football (soccer) player. In November 2003, to celebrate UEFA's jubilee, he was selected by the Liechtenstein Football Association as the country's Golden Player - the greatest player of the last 50 years. [1]
Career
He played as a right defender for the Swiss club Neuchatel Xamax and Servette Geneva. With those in Geneva, where he spent two years as captain, he won in 1984 the Swiss Cup and the Swiss championship in 1985. Another major success was with Xamax reaching the UEFA Cup quarter-final in the 1981/82 season.[1]
He retired from football in 1989 at 31 years of age.
International career
He never played for the Liechtenstein national team, as the national team barely participated in any games before he retired.[citation needed]
