Merge with Jatha

I think this should be merged with Jatha because 1) it is the correct term 2) "gangs" has a negative and criminal connotation that jatha doesn't 3) I believe Jatha is used in more wikipedia articles

However, although we should keep a lot of this information it's important to eliminate some of the history which is already covered in say misl

Since the merge is uncontested, I have gone ahead and done it. It seems like I've done it backwards, but this is the stronger article anyway so we can just rename it. — Ƶ§œš¹ [ãːɱ ˈfɹ̠ˤʷɪ̃ə̃nlɪ] 00:26, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

Sikh gangsJatha

Per the above uncontested proposal. — Ƶ§œš¹ [ãːɱ ˈfɹ̠ˤʷɪ̃ə̃nlɪ] 00:26, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article has a much richer edit history, which is something we want to keep. The other article didn't have any content that's not here (except that it comes from the Sanskrit word yūtha) so the merge was basically turning the other article into a redirect. — Ƶ§œš¹ [ãːɱ ˈfɹ̠ˤʷɪ̃ə̃nlɪ] 02:26, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request
