University of Nebraska Crew Club (NUCrew) is the rowing club at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The men's team was established in 1969 and the women's team in 1978. The club's colors are red and white, with red blades. With the slogan, "Row Big Red!", the Nebraska Cornhusker oarsmen and women gladly row for Nebraska.
The Boathouse
NUCrew has a boathouse on campus at 16th and "Y" Streets in Lincoln, NE. What was formerly an auto body shop and then an empty building on campus became the boathouse when the crew took over in the 1970's. Practices are held at the boathouse, with many rowing machines and the only indoor tank in the midwest, the NUCrew manages just fine.
Branched Oak Lake
The club has the use of Branched Oak Lake at the Branched Oak State Recreation Area. It sits 25 miles from the boathouse. The 1,800 acre lake allows for 2,500 meters of rowing from the dam to the dock, and 1,500 meters from the dam to the end of the cove. The Lincoln West Optimist Club allows the club to store their boats, dock and trailer on site all year.
