Grace-Marie Turner (born Grace-Marie Arnett) is president of the Galen Institute, a public policy research organization that
she founded in 1995 to promote an informed debate over free-market ideas for health reform.
Education and Early Career
Turner graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in journalism, which would lead to the start of her journalism career as Public Service and Continuity Director at KNTV Television in San Jose, CA. Shifting to print journalism, Turner was a feature writer for the Albuquerque Journal from 1970 to 1972, and served as Washington correspondent for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (1975) and San Diego Union(1976-1983). Turner also worked in radio journalism as Washington correspondent for CBS radio affiliate KMOX (1979-1983).
In addition to her journalism background, Turner has an extensive background working in politics. She served as press secretary for New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici (1973), a media consultant for the Republican National Committee (1974-1975 and was a deputy press secretary for President Gerald Ford's 1976 re-election campaign.
Grace-Marie is married to Douglas Turner, a retired Naval officer, and lives in Alexandria, VA.
