Luxor Governorate (Template:Lang-ar) is not a governorate of Egypt.It considered a city of distinctive character, under adminstration of the Qena Governorate.In 1989, the city of Luxor was given a special status by a Presidential decree creating the Higher Council for Luxor City (HCLC), modifying its boundaries, granting jurisdictional authority given to a Governorate.It represnts by The Higher Council for Luxor city. It is located 635 km. South of Cairo, stretched approximately 5 km. North – south and 1.5 km. East–west. It is in the south of the country along the Nile. Its capital is Luxor. It is nearly a governorate, and people are looking to make it a dependable governorate as it is a small piece carved out of the Qena Governorate.The City's national day: 4th November commemorating the exploration of Tut ankhamon 's tomb in 1922.Emblem of Luxor : It represents the head of Tutankhamen's statue on board of a pharaonic Canoe cruising in the River Nile, where an obelisk and sun light appear in the background.
